  • Patent number: 6720046
Abstract: A low scalping laminate material for a container for food packaging includes a core layer of paper or paperboard, a polymeric coating applied to one side of the core layer and a combination of layers disposed on an opposing side of the core layer. The combination of layers includes a first barrier layer disposed adjacent the core layer, a first tie layer adjacent the first barrier layer, a second barrier layer adjacent the first tie layer, a second tie layer adjacent the second barrier layer and a second polymeric coating adjacent the second tie layer. The second polymeric coating is configured for a food contacting surface. The first and second barrier layers are formed from an admixture of an aromatic polyamide resin and polyamide 6, and the first and second tie layers are formed from one of a modified polyethylene and a polyolefin. A carton formed from the low scalping laminate is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6689440
Abstract: A coated metal tubing arrangement comprises a metal tube. An inner layer of a first polymeric material is bonded to the tube to provide corrosion protection. The first polymeric material has a high crystallinity, a dampening factor of less than 0.05, and a flexural modulus of at least 100 MPa. An outer layer of a second polymeric material is extruded around the inner layer to absorb impact energies and to eliminate mechanical vibrations and acoustic noises. The second polymeric material has a dampening factor of at least 0.05 and a flexural modulus of less than 50 Mpa. The second polymeric material is a multi-phase polymer having at least one polymer component with a glass-transition temperature below room temperature.

  • Patent number: 6677015
Abstract: A molding composition of at least 50% by weight of a polyamine-polyamide copolymer obtained from 0.05 to 2.5% by weight of a polyamine having at least 4 nitrogen atoms and having a viscosity of at least 5 000 Pa•s at 250° C. and at a shear rate of 0.1 l/s, and having a viscosity ratio of at least 7 at 250° C., when the melt viscosities at shear rates of 0.1 l/s and 100 l/s are compared with one another, has high melt stiffness and is easy to cut, and performs well in blow molding.

  • Patent number: 6656553
Abstract: A hose for fuel having a laminated structure comprising an inner layer (A) made of a ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene copolymer adhesive to a polyamide resin and an outer layer (B) made of a polyamide resin, is formed. Such a hose for fuel is excellent in interlaminar adhesive strength and also excellent in antistatic properties and fuel permeation-preventing properties, and particularly, the dependency of the interlaminar adhesive strength on the take-up speed during the co-extrusion molding, is small.

  • Patent number: 6649237
Abstract: A tube mat made of elastomer material in the form of an extrudate includes first and second front faces which are arranged in a vertical or angled manner in relation to the extrusion direction. A plurality of tubes extend in parallel in the extrusion direction between the two front faces. At least a portion of each tube is closed at adjustable distances whereby a closed air column respectively is formed and whereby the tube seal together with the tube mat forms a one-piece elastomer composite. A method for producing the tube mat is also provided in which after the extrusion, the tubes are closed at certain points by means of pressure and a pad roller, whereby beads and closing webs are produced. The pad roller is provided with pins that are distributed over the circumference of the roller. Vulcanization is carried out subsequently.

  • Patent number: 6645585
Abstract: There is provided a treatment container which enables to prolong a period of time taken for reaction products, such as a halide generated through reaction with corrosive halide gas, to exfoliate and fall down as particles, and decreases the frequency of periodic maintenance operation, thereby implementing increase of operating time. The treatment container constituting a chamber or a bell jar has a portion of the inner surface to be exposed to corrosive halide gas plasma and is formed with a sintered body mainly composed of a compound of yttrium and aluminum with oxygen, and the portion has a roughened surface of a mean roughness Ra of 1.5 to 10 &mgr;m.

  • Patent number: 6632493
Abstract: Disclosed is a multi-layered plastic container (10) that substantially enhances product drainage and reduces product residual levels trapped in the container, especially for viscous liquid products, including oil-in-water emulsions, water-in-oil emulsions, polymeric gels, foams, surfactant mixtures, dispersions, colloidal dispersions, suspensions, polymer solutions, polymer melts, and products like catsup, mustard, syrup, etc. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the plastic container is made by blow-molding an extruded parison having an outer polyolefin layer (14), an intermediate adhesive layer (18), and an inner product-contacting layer (16) of a polyester material such as glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate.
