Abstract: A method for cold matching by automatic content recognition includes receiving, at data processing hardware, broadcast fingerprints indicative of broadcast frames of a broadcast media stream. The method also includes receiving, at the data processing hardware, media device fingerprints indicative of media device frames of a media device stream at a corresponding media device. The method further includes determining, by the data processing hardware, that a search block comprising a plurality of media device fingerprints corresponding to sequential media device frames of the media device stream includes at least one media device fingerprint having a match correlation to at least one broadcast fingerprint. The match correlation is based on a Pearson correlation coefficient. The method also includes identifying, by the data processing hardware, the at least one media device fingerprint having the match correlation to the at least one broadcast fingerprint as corresponding to a match media device frame.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to assign viewers to media meter data are disclosed. An apparatus includes memory to store instructions, and a processor to execute the instructions to at least: determine first probabilities for first panelists in a media meter household during a first set of time periods, determine second probabilities for second panelists in a plurality of learning households during a second set of time periods, compare the first probabilities and the second probabilities to identify a candidate household from the plurality of learning households to associated with the media meter household, and impute ones of the first number of minutes to individual ones of the first panelists when second panelist behavior data associated with the candidate household indicates activity during one of the second set of time periods that matches activity in the media meter household during one of the first set of time periods.

Abstract: A method for applying a shortcut to a streaming multimedia channel is described. The method includes receiving a request from an application of a portable device to generate an auto access identifier (ID) to a media channel that is currently being rendered on a main display. The request is associated with a user account and used by a streaming interface to facilitate rendering of the media channel. The method further includes identifying the media channel currently being rendered and user login data used to access the user account. The method includes generating control data for the auto access ID. The auto access ID is usable to instruct the streaming interface to return to the media channel at a later point in time. The method includes sending the auto access ID, by the streaming interface, to the application of the portable device.

Abstract: In order to obtain information about a salt-state of a road independently of drivers, a method that generates information about the salt-state of a road is specified that includes a determination of salt-state-dependent measurement values, processing of the measurement values into information about the salt-state of the road and outputting of the information about the salt-state of the road. A corresponding device that generates information about the salt-state of a road comprises sensors that determine of salt-state-dependent measurement values, a processing unit that is configured to process determined measurement values into information about the salt-state of the road, and output the information about the salt-state of the road.

Abstract: Examples of the systems and methods described herein relate to reducing latency issues associated with playing online digital video on client devices. An example method includes: determining that a client device of a user is displaying a web page; determining a likelihood that the user will select content on the web page associated with a digital video; and determining that the likelihood exceeds a threshold and, based thereon, performing at least one of the following steps before the user selects the content: initiating a mediation process to identify the digital video associated with the content; unwrapping a video tag associated with the digital video; storing at least a portion of the digital video on the client device; stitching the digital video together with a second digital video; and/or initializing a video player for displaying the digital video on the client device.

Abstract: Mediation data may be prefetched to reduce latency associated with presentation of digital media. Prior to the selection of online content associated with presentation of digital media in a media space, a mediation process may be initiated. Initiating the mediation process may include prefetching mediation data from a remote server, wherein the mediation data includes a media tag corresponding to a particular media item and valuation data indicative of a value of presenting the particular media item in the media space. After the selection of the online content, the mediation process may be completed. Completing the mediation process may include sending the mediation data to a remote allocation manager, and receiving allocation data indicative of a digital media item to be presented in the media space. Subsequent to the completion of the mediation process, the digital media item identified by the allocation data may be presented in the media space.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for selectively determining a set of segments of a live content stream to present at a user device to overcome a delay in the live content stream. A content manifest may be accessed that identifies locations of the segments of the set. Tagging information may be accessed that identifies action segments and other segments of the set. The set of segments can be determined based at least in part on the content manifest and the tagging information. The set of segments may be discontinuous in an unaltered stream, but may be presented continuously in a customized stream.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments illustrate method for displaying targeted multimedia items to a ridesharing group. The method includes transmitting a plurality of multimedia items to a computing device installed in a vehicle. The method further includes receiving at least one feedback provided by a plurality of users on each of the transmitted plurality of multimedia items. The method includes determining an effectiveness score for each of the transmitted plurality of multimedia items based on the corresponding at least one feedback provided by the plurality of users. The method includes selecting a plurality of targeted multimedia items from the plurality of multimedia items in real-time based on the determined effectiveness score and a pre-specified constraint. The method includes transmitting the selected plurality of targeted multimedia items in a prioritized order to the computing device. The transmitted plurality of targeted multimedia items is displayed to the plurality of users traveling in the vehicle.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes sending videos to users that use a video delivery service. The videos include shows that have episodes released sequentially. The method records historical records of video views for the video based on the sending of the videos to the users. For a show, a show-specific model is determined to predict future video views by performing: determining historical records of video views for different episodes of the show; training the show-specific model with the historical records, wherein the show-specific model models a decay curve with a regularizing term to regularize a decay speed; using the show-specific model to predict future video views for a future time range for episodes of the show; and outputting the future video views to an ad system configured to sell ads for the show.

Abstract: A system and method for providing viewership measurement for a digital media asset hosted at a particular location has been disclosed. The system employs a machine learning process to receive classified sensor data corresponding to viewership of a digital media asset at a particular location from a plurality of sources to generate trained data. The trained data is utilized by the system along with limited sensor data to provide viewership measurement of a target digital media asset whose audience is unknown.

Abstract: An online system receives content items including targeting criteria and associated with objects presented via video content. When the online system presents video content to a user, the online system detects objects included in the video content. If the online system detects an object in the video content matching an object associated with a content item, the online system determines whether characteristics of the user satisfy at least a threshold amount of targeting criteria included in the content item. In response to characteristics of the user satisfying the threshold amount of targeting criteria included in the content item, the online system includes the content item in one or more selection processes. If the selection processes select the content item, the online system presents the content item in conjunction with the video content.

An embodiment sends an instant message to the DVR which causes the DVR to open a new secure connection with the service provider for synchronizing data on the DVR with updated programming data from the service provider. The processor is further configured to determine a change from a previous channel to a current channel. The processor dynamically updates the watch list to include the previous channel, wherein the previous channel is ranked as one. The processor removes the channel ranked as n from the watch list.

A customer premises equipment (CPE) synchronizes with at least one of the plurality of portable communication devices. The CPE extracts descriptive data of media content stored in the at least one portable communication device. The CPE searches for a descriptive data of content available at the CPE based on the descriptive data extracted from the at least one portable communication device. The CPE determines that the extracted descriptive data matches the descriptive data of content available at the CPE. The CPE makes the content available to the at least one portable communication device.
