  • Patent number: 11135050
Abstract: A method for treating an intestine with an expandable scaffolding expanded within the intestine. After placing the expandable scaffolding at a target location, such as across a fistula, the first and second end portions of the expandable scaffolding are radially expanded such that the first and second end portions contact an inner surface of the intestine on opposing sides of the fistula, anchoring the first and second end portions to the intestine. Radially expanding the first and second end portions foreshortens the medial portion along the longitudinal axis such that the first and second end portions are drawn closer together along the longitudinal axis as the medial portion foreshortens to close the fistula.

  • Patent number: 11116637
Abstract: Anatomically shaped augments that are configured for implantation in a bone and which have one or more reliefs. A distal end of an outer portion of the augment can have a shape that is configured to generally conform to the shape of a metaphyseal-diaphyseal junction of an intramedullary canal of a bone. A proximal end of the outer portion can have a shape that is configured to generally conform to a shape of the metaphyseal region of the intramedullary canal. The reliefs can be configured to reduce a size of the augment and enhance the degree of freedom in the implant positioning and/or sizing of the augment. Further, such reliefs may contour the augment so as to prevent cortical bone contact and/or prevent contact with the implant device that may be associated with misalignment between an intramedullary canal and metaphyseal or diaphyseal regions of the bone.

  • Patent number: 11000290
Abstract: This invention is the method of treating an ailment associated with the cervical portion of the spine by performing an intravertebral corpectomy that includes the steps of removing the vertebral corpus to define a working channel for the surgeon to gain access to the epidural space so as to attend to and perform a procedure on the pathology. This method obviates the problems incidental to more radical cervical spine operations such as discectomy or corpectomy which requires removal of a portion of the vertebra and adjacent intervertebral discs for decompression of the cervical spinal cord and spinal nerves and using a bone graft with or without a metal plate and screws to reconstruct the spine and provide stability. Prior to terminating the surgery, the opening formed by the removed vertebral corpus is fitted and/or filled with a suitable implant.
