Patent number: 6293599Abstract: A non-reusable locking device for sealing containers. The locking device employs an insertion bolt which is insertable into a receptacle having locking flanges to prevent removal of the insertion bolt once inserted into the receptacle. A rigid housing surrounds and protects the receptacle, preventing access to the insertion bolt once inserted into the receptacle. A multi-part locking collar secures one end of a flexible cable permanently and rotatably within the housing. The second end of the cable is crimp-secured into a bore at one end of the insertion bolt. The flexible cable permits attachment to any type of container. The device forms a contiguous loop which can not be severed without destruction of the device. Once the loop is severed, it cannot be rejoined and provides instant indication that the container has been tampered with.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1999Date of Patent: September 25, 2001Inventor: Juan Ricardo Garcia

Patent number: 6158786Abstract: A latch for a top of an automobile has a housing mounted on the top with a movable latching hook cooperating with a link mounted on the windshield frame. The latching hook is displaceable by an actuating device from a closed position into an open position. To produce a latch which forms a compact module, takes up little space in the transverse vehicle direction, and whose latching hook is movable by a motor, the motorized actuating device for the latching hook has a drive motor aligned approximately parallel to the lengthwise direction of the latching hook. The motor is in an operating relationship through a transverse transmission element and a downstream transmission with a drive lever to move the latching hook.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1998Date of Patent: December 12, 2000Assignee: Dr. Ing. h.c.f. Patent number: 6149209Abstract: A latch that secures a closure member includes a bolt and a support member, with the support member attaching the bolt to a part, which could be a door frame. The support member is configured with head and shank portions, so that when the support member is tightened to the part, the bolt is free to rotate and slide about the shank. The bolt is held captive on the support member by a shoulder of the head, and a longitudinal slot in the bolt allows the bolt to rotate and slide about the shank. The bolt has a second slot with parallel sides that engage parallel flat surfaces of the support member head, thereby suspending the bolt in a horizontal closure locking position to allow unobstructed opening or closing of the closure member.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Inventor: Donn Barton

Patent number: 6149210Abstract: A hood latch assembly (10) has a housing (14) having a mouth (13). A ratchet (16) is pivotally mounted within the housing (14) to cooperate with the mouth (13) to pivot between an open, a secondary closed and a primary closed condition for receiving, engaging and cinching a keeper of a striker (80). The ratchet (16) is biased to the open condition. A pivotally mounted primary pawl (18) is biased for engagement with the ratchet (16) to releasably retain the ratchet (16) in the primary closed condition. A pivotally mounted secondary pawl (62) is biased for engagement with the ratchet (16) to releasably retain the ratchet (16) in the secondary closed condition. The secondary pawl (62) has a release lever (20) which rotates between a deployed position and a retracted position. As the ratchet (16) engages the striker (80), the ratchet (16) will rotate in a latching sense from the open condition to the secondary closed condition.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Atoma International CorporationInventors: Trevor Hunt, Ravi Joshi, Dikran Ghorghorian, Kris Tomaszewski

Patent number: 6145354Abstract: A door lock system has a closing mechanism for bringing an ajar condition of a door into a fully closed condition. The fully closed condition of the door is locked for the sake of safety by the locking operation of a locking-and-unlocking mechanism. The locked condition of the door is released by an unlocking operation of the locking-and-unlocking mechanism. Moreover, by actuating a double lock mechanism, the door under the locked condition is further brought into a double-looked condition under which the unlocking operation of the locking-and-unlocking mechanism cannot be established. The closing mechanism, the locking and-unlocking mechanism, and the double lock mechanism are driven by a common electric motor thus allowing the door lock mechanism to be reduced in size and manufactured less expensively.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1999Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Aisin Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ichiro Kondo, Hiroshi Ishihara, Toshitsugu Oda
