  • Patent number: 5437238
Abstract: A continuous loop waist band (10) is placed in edge alignment with a garment body (11), and the garment parts are stretched about spindles (19, 20, 21 and 23). The spindles are moved away from one another so as to stretch the aligned edges of the garment parts. The edges of the garment parts tend to curl when stretched, and an edge decurler (84) removes the curl from the stretched garment parts as the edges approach the sewing machine needle (26). Edge guide (102) maintains the plies of material in overlying contact so as to make sure the curls do not reappear in the garment parts as the parts approach the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 5435012
Abstract: The invention is a glove-like device which shields the back of the hands from the rays of sunlight. It fits over the back of the hand like a glove, but leaves the palm and sides of the hand and the sides of the fingers and thumb essentially uncovered so heat from the hand can easily escape and the hand can be cooler. Unlike ordinary gloves which would be too uncomfortable to be worn in warm or hot surroundings because they retain the heat coming from the hands, the invention provides ventilation for the hands and allows them to stay cool while the device is being worn in the hot summer sun, or in warm surroundings, such as the inside of an air conditioned automobile, where one would not want to wear ordinary gloves to shield the sunlight off the hands.

  • Patent number: 5433034
Abstract: An ironing table (40) has an ironing board (41) which is perforated by a number of bores. A vacuum pump or suction fan is mounted in a housing (47) adjacent the board (41) and can communicate with a chamber (46) disposed below the board (41). The pump or fan operate to lower the pressure in the chamber (46) thereby forming a pressure gradient between top and bottom surfaces of the ironing board (41) whereby steam will be positively drawn from an iron through the garment being ironed, into the bores and into the chamber (46). The steam will condense on the relatively cooler walls of the chamber (46) and will drain to one end due to the inclined base of the chamber (46) and can be drained away after ironing via drainage tap.

  • Patent number: 5433159
Abstract: A horizontal rotating hook for a sewing machine which has a structure so that an opener mechanism, which is adapted to wear and provide noise, is not required. The opener structure is avoided by using a needle thread fastener that is located adjacent to a rotating hook bobbin case holder position bracket in a rotating hook bobbin case holder for fastening needle thread temporarily. Thus, when the loop of the needle thread captured by the hook point of a rotating hook goes through into the rotating hook bobbin case holder, the rotating hook bobbin case holder is moved in a direction opposite to the rotation direction of the rotating hook (reversed) by the tension of the thread.

  • Patent number: 5433355
Abstract: A clothing protection apparatus for protecting clothing or the like during storage and transportation. The apparatus having a top attachment device to secure onto the top of a door thus allowing the user to easily manipulate the invention during use. A looping hook is use to secure the invention onto a clothing rail when the invention is not in use. A lower attachment device is provided to support a clothing hanger and the accompanying garment for positioning before a protective cover is to be installed. A common roll of protective covering is provided with perforations between each cover. To use the device, a clothing hanger and clothing garment is placed onto the lower attachment device whereupon the protective covering is unrolled while simultaneously being wrapped around the clothing garment until the first perforation of the cover is reached. The protective cover is then torn at the perforation and the hook of the clothing hanger is pulled through the opening provided at the top of the protective cover.
