  • Patent number: 9777359
Abstract: Ferrous metal alloys including Fe, Co and optionally Ni with metalloids Si, B and P are provided that are substantially close to the peak in glass forming ability and have a combination of both good glass formability and good ferromagnetic properties. In particular, Fe/Co-based compositions wherein the Co content is between 15 and 30 atomic percent and the metalloid content is between 22 and 24 atomic percent at a well-defined metalloid moiety, have been shown to be capable of forming bulk glassy rods with diameters as large as 4 mm or larger. In addition, incorporating a small content of Ni under 10 atomic percent and additions of Mo, Cr, Nb, Ge, or C at an incidental impurity level of up to 2 atomic percent are not expected to impair the bulk-glass-forming ability of the present alloys.

  • Patent number: 9776866
Abstract: The method for producing a perovskite metal oxynitride of the present invention, comprises: a hydrogenation step (A) of forming a perovskite oxyhydride in which an oxide ion (O2?) and a hydride ion (H?) coexist, by reducing a perovskite oxide through a reductive oxygen elimination reaction using a metal hydride; and a nitriding step (B) of forming a perovskite oxynitride containing a nitride ion (N3?) by heat-treating the perovskite oxyhydride in the presence of a nitrogen source substance at a temperature of 300° C. or higher and 600° C. or lower and exchanging the hydride ion (H?) for a nitride ion (N3?).

  • Patent number: 9770786
Abstract: As electronic equipment has become smaller in size, printed circuit boards which cannot be subjected to cleaning have been developed, and a no-clean lead-free solder paste is becoming necessary. In order for a solder paste not to require cleaning, it is necessary that the color of the residue be transparent and that the residue be non-tacky. A maleated rosin, which is a rosin suited for no-clean paste, has a high acid value so it is not suitable for a flux for lead-free solder. As a means of suppressing a reaction between a flux containing a maleated rosin and a Sn—Ag—Cu based solder alloy powder, a Sn—Ag—Cu—Sb based solder alloy powder is used which adds 1-8 mass % of Sb to a Sn—Ag—Cu based solder alloy. As a result, it is possible to provide a solder paste which has the excellent effect that the solder paste does not easily undergo changes over time and has a long pot life.

  • Patent number: 9767940
Abstract: Superconducting cables employ one or more superconducting tapes wound around a former. A compact superconducting cable is configured using a former having a small diameter, e.g., less than 10 millimeters. A flexible superconducting cable is configured with a former made of a flexible material. Superconducting tape conductors are wound around the former, with the superconducting layer in compression on the inside of the wind turns of the wind, to prevent irreversible damage to the superconductor. A layer of solder is on the superconducting tape(s) or solder sheaths are wound between tape conductors in each layer. The one or more solder layers or sheaths are melted to cause the solder to flow within the structure, to bond some or all of the superconducting tape conductors together and form a mechanically strong cable with an enhanced level of electrical connectivity between tapes in the cable.

  • Patent number: 9757796
Abstract: A castable, moldable, or extrudable structure using a metallic base metal or base metal alloy. One or more insoluble additives are added to the metallic base metal or base metal alloy so that the grain boundaries of the castable, moldable, or extrudable structure includes a composition and morphology to achieve a specific galvanic corrosion rates partially or throughout the structure or along the grain boundaries of the structure. The insoluble additives can be used to enhance the mechanical properties of the structure, such as ductility and/or tensile strength. The insoluble particles generally have a submicron particle size. The final structure can be enhanced by heat treatment, as well as deformation processing such as extrusion, forging, or rolling, to further improve the strength of the final structure as compared to the non-enhanced structure.

  • Patent number: 9741920
Abstract: Superconducting integrated circuits require several wiring layers to distribute bias and signals across the circuit, which must cross each other both with and without contacts. All wiring lines and contacts must be fully superconducting, and in the prior art each wiring layer comprises a single metallic thin film. An alternative wiring layer is disclosed that comprises sequential layers of two or more different metals. Such a multi-metallic wiring layer may offer improved resistance to impurity diffusion, better surface passivation, and/or reduction of stress, beyond that which is attainable with a single-metallic wiring layer. The resulting process leads to improved margin and yield in an integrated circuit comprising a plurality of Josephson junctions. Several preferred embodiments are disclosed, for both planarized and non-planarized processes.
