  • Patent number: 9895489
Abstract: A disposable safety needle assembly and safety enclosure for internally shielding a used or contaminated needle includes a needle assembly having a needle cannula slidably disposed within a safety enclosure. An angular orientation to the needle within the enclosure maintains an insertion angle allowing the safety enclosure to remain substantially flush with a dermal surface during and while the needle is inserted. The safety enclosure also includes an internally disposed flexible safety member. The flexible safety member has face portion transversely situated and having a safety feature disposed to the needle and that slides thereon. Retracting the needle within the safety enclosure to a point wherein the sharp tip of the needle is beyond the needle protection section of the flexible member causes the protection section to travel transversely to the direction of motion of the needle. As a result, the safety feature receives the sharp tip of the needle.

  • Patent number: 9861792
Abstract: An insertion device for use in assisting with the placement of a medical device within the body of a patient is disclosed. For example, the insertion device can be employed to assist with the placement of an introducer, which provides a conduit for insertion of a catheter into the body. In one embodiment, the insertion device comprises a needle that is removably disposed within a bore defined by the medical device, and a needle retraction assembly. The needle retraction assembly can position the needle in any one of a first position wherein a distal tip of the needle is disposed a predetermined distance distal to a distal end of the medical device, a second position wherein the needle distal tip is disposed distal but proximate to the distal end of the medical device, and a third position wherein the needle distal tip is retracted within the medical device bore.

  • Patent number: 9833578
Abstract: A medicament delivery device includes a distal housing part; a proximal housing part for a container; a drive mechanism in the distal housing part that includes a plunger rod; and an auto mixing mechanism. The housing parts are movable from a first position, in which the housing parts are partially extended relative to each other, to a second position, in which the housing parts are partially retracted relative to each other. The auto mixing mechanism is configured to hold the housing parts in the first position and to lock the housing parts in the second position, and includes a mixing force member operably arranged between the housing parts such that manual activation of the auto mixing mechanism enables the mixing force member to cause the housing parts to move from the first position to the second position. The plunger rod acts to mixing a medicament in the container.
