The oxide Pr.sub.6 O.sub.11 is particularly effective in the process.

Utilization of particular amounts of calcium and bismuth compounds in dehydrogenation catalyst compositions of this type will provide a catalyst especially suitable for promoting the selective dehydrogenation of para-ethyltoluene to form para-methylstyrene in improved yields or the selective dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to form styrene in improved yields.
