  • Patent number: 9686702
Abstract: A device receives fading channel conditions to utilize for simulating behavior of multiple mobile devices in a mobile network, and at least one of the fading channel conditions for at least one of the multiple mobile devices is different than at least another one of the fading channel conditions for at least another one of the multiple mobile devices. The device generates channel realizations based on the fading channel conditions, and the channel realizations include time-discrete and frequency-discrete random channel coefficients. The device generates a test channel based on the generated channel realizations, and provides the test channel to a receiver device of the mobile network. The test channel causes the receiver device to perform functions associated with processing an actual channel.

  • Patent number: 9674731
Abstract: A wireless end-user device can communicate data using a home network or a roaming network. The device stores a network service usage activity classification list that indicates which of a plurality of background data traffic policies to apply respectively to each of a plurality of applications resident on the device. A processor on the device determines which type of network the device currently connects through, and whether a particular application is currently operating as a background application. According to the applicable policy, a given application operating in the background may be allowed to perform network service usage activities on both network types, on only one of the network types, or on neither of the network types.

  • Patent number: 9667446
Abstract: A condition code approach for comparing dimension match data of a rule with corresponding data in a key is provided. The approach includes, given dimension match data divided into first and second portions, comparing the first portion with a corresponding first portion of data in a key and setting a first condition code based on the comparison. The approach further includes comparing the second portion with a corresponding second portion of key data and setting a second condition code based on the comparison. The approach further includes determining whether the dimension match data is equal to, greater than, or less than the corresponding data in the key based on the first and second condition codes, and returning a response indicating whether the data matches based on the determination.

  • Patent number: 9661521
Abstract: A system for merging first and second interrupts includes first and second queue modules, first and second status modules, and first and second merger modules. The first and second queue modules receive first and second en-queue signals corresponding to the first and second interrupts, first and second de-queue signals, and generate first and second status signals. The first and second status modules receive first and second status signals, and first and second output signals, and generate first and second merge signals. The first and second merger modules receive the first and second merge signals, and generate the first and second output signals. One of the first and second output signals is indicative of the first and second en-queue signals, thereby merging the first and second interrupts into at least one of the first and second output signals.

  • Patent number: 9629160
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for managing carriers on which a wireless communication system serves a UE. As disclosed, the system serves the UE on a set of one or more carriers. While serving the UE on the set of one or more carriers, the system determines that the UE should additionally be served on at least one other carrier. The system then selects the at least one other carrier, from a set of candidate carriers, based at least in part on the at least one other carrier being closest, of the set of candidate carriers, in the frequency spectrum to the set of one or more carriers. Based on the selecting, the system then adds the selected at least one other carrier to the set of one or more carriers to establish a modified set of carriers and serves the UE on the modified set of carriers.

  • Patent number: 9622284
Abstract: A User Equipment is disclosed that is configured to perform traffic steering from a RAN (e.g., 3GPP system) to a WLAN, or vice versa, based on one or more rules. In an embodiment, the UE performs the traffic steering to the WLAN based on whether data is to be transmitted from or received by the UE. In another embodiment, the UE performs the traffic steering based on receipt of RAN assistance parameters without checking the status of the UE upload buffers or the eNB/AP download buffers. In yet another embodiment, the UE performs the traffic steering based on the latest RAN assistance information and a time elapsed since the last transmission or receipt of data.

  • Patent number: 9590904
Abstract: In a system that includes a physical forwarding element (PFE), the mapping of each possible destination MAC address to a destination port number of the PFE is stored in a mapping table. A destination port number on the PFE is identified for a first packet in a sequence of packets arrived at a source port of the PFE by searching the mapping table and stores the destination port number in a caching table. For each packet after the first packet, when the destination MAC address of the packet matches the destination MAC address stored in the caching table, the destination port number stored in the caching table is used as the destination port number of the packet. Otherwise, a destination port number for the packet is identified by searching the mapping table and the destination port number stored in the caching table is replaced with the identified destination port number.

  • Patent number: 9590690
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for canceling a blocking signal to obtain a desired signal. An example process includes receiving both a blocking signal and a set of blocking bits corresponding to a demodulation of the blocking signal. A remodulated blocking signal is generated by modulating the received set of blocking bits. The remodulated blocking signal is passed through a blocking-band bandpass filter to generate an estimated blocking signal, and is also passed through a desired-band bandpass filter to generate an unconditioned reference signal. One or more signal-parameter differences between the blocking signal and the estimated blocking signal are identified, and one or more signal compensations are accordingly applied to the unconditioned reference signal to generate a conditioned reference signal, which is then output to a blocking-signal-canceling system.

  • Patent number: 9553819
Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support automatic timing adjustment of a plurality of paths carrying metadata of incoming data packets in a network switch to meet their respective timing constraints. First, the paths for transmitting different pieces of metadata of incoming packets are identified in the network switch. Once the metadata paths are identified, the proposed approach identifies the timing constraints that the metadata paths need to satisfy in order for the network switch to function properly. The proposed approach then calculates the current delays of the metadata paths and determines optimal timing values of each of the metadata paths in order to meet the timing constraints. The optimal timing values of the metadata paths are then compared to the current delays of the metadata paths to identify the paths which current delay values need to be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 9544162
Abstract: In one embodiment, a message is received at a caching node in a network including an indication of the message's urgency. The message is transmitted to child nodes of the caching node, and upon transmitting the message, a retransmission timer is initiated when the message is urgent, based on the indication of the message's urgency. Then, one or more acknowledgements of receipt of the transmitted message are received from one or more of the child nodes, respectively. Upon expiration of the retransmission timer, when it is determined that one or more of the child nodes did not receive the transmitted message based on the received acknowledgements, the message is retransmitted to the child nodes.

  • Patent number: 9544850
Abstract: After waking from a sleep mode, a wireless communication device may poll a network controller for any broadcast and/or multicast messages. The device and the network controller may agree to this arrangement ahead of time, so that the network controller will know to buffer such messages until the device requests them. A format for enabling this capability is described.
