  • Patent number: 9813859
Abstract: A mobile device may receive updates, support and other data from a current data center agent platform. When the mobile device travels to another location the nearest data center agent may be different from the previous agent. A changeover determination must be performed prior to determining whether the new agent should be assigned to the mobile device. One example method of operation may include receiving current location information of the mobile device and identifying a present location of the mobile device and a current service center assigned to the mobile device. The method may also provide determining whether a new service center location at a remote location from the current service center location should be assigned to the mobile device based on predefined assignment criteria.

  • Patent number: 9775000
Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for location notification using location context information. In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, a mobile device automatically generates location context information that indicates a point of interest in a vicinity of the mobile device. For example, if the user of the mobile device is at home, then the location context information indicates that the user is at home instead of merely indicating latitude/longitude information corresponding to the location of the home. The mobile device displays the location context information in order to convey the location of the mobile device in a manner that is meaningful without the need for a map. Alternatively, or additionally, the mobile device provides the location context information to at least one other device. This serves to inform other users of the location of the mobile device in a manner that is meaningful without the need for a map.

  • Patent number: 9774731
Abstract: A device may receive a first query from a terminating device. The first query may be based on the terminating device having received, from a calling party device, a request to establish a connection with a called party device. The first query may be based on information associated with the calling party device. The device may send, to a caller information device, a second query based on the first query. The device may receive, from the caller information device, caller information based on the second query. The device may compare the caller information to a criterion. The device may modify the caller information, to create modified caller information, when the caller information satisfies the criterion. The device may send the modified caller information to the terminating device for forwarding to another device to support determining how to handle, for the called party device, the request to establish the connection.

  • Patent number: 9769665
Abstract: Systems and techniques are disclosed to facilitate the sponsored connectivity of a user equipment on a serving network so that the UE may access a service whose connectivity is sponsored by an application service provider. The application service provider provisions the serving network so that it is aware of the sponsored connectivity. In an attach attempt to the serving network, the UE provides a client token based on a pre-existing credential (established between the UE and the application service provider) instead of a subscriber identifier with the attach request. The application service provider's server validates the access credential to authenticate the UE and provides information that the serving network uses to mutually authenticate with the UE. The UE may then use the serving network to access the service via the sponsored connection, even where the UE does not have a subscriber identity and subscription with a cellular network.

  • Patent number: 9769603
Abstract: Accurate position capability can be quickly provided using a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). When associated with a WLAN, a wireless device can quickly determine its relative and/or coordinate position based on information provided by an access point in the WLAN. Before a wireless device disassociates with the access point, the WLAN can periodically provide time, location, and decoded GPS data to the wireless device. In this manner, the wireless device can significantly reduce the time to acquire the necessary GPS satellite data (i.e. on the order of seconds instead of minutes) to determine its coordinate position.

  • Patent number: 9763038
Abstract: A tracking device can securely communicate with a secondary device by generating a hash value based on the identity of the tracking device. If the secondary device cannot resolve the hash value, the hash value can be provided to a tracking server, such as a cloud server, for resolving the hash value. Upon resolving the hash value, the tracking server can store a location of the tracking device in association with the identity of the tracking device. To preserve power, the secondary device can activate location-detection functionality (such as a GPS receive) only in response to the detection of movement of the tracking device, can obtain location information, and can de-activate the location-detection functionality upon providing the location information to the tracking server. The tracking server can associate one or both of a previous location and the current location information based on movement of the tracking device.
