Abstract: An audio reproduction device and method for audio control based on room-correction (RC) and head related transfer function (HRTF) are provided. The audio reproduction device includes a speaker that reproduces a first audio signal. The audio reproduction device receives a plurality of second audio signals indicative of frequency responses captured based on the first audio signal and captured by a plurality of audio capturing devices positioned on a head wearable device of a user present within an enclosed physical space. The audio reproduction device determines RC preset for one or more RC filters associated with the speaker, based on the captured frequency responses. The audio reproduction device further determines HRTF associated with the user based on the captured frequency responses, and user-specific information of the user. The audio reproduction device further controls audio reproduction of the speaker based on the determined RC preset and the determined HRTF.

  • Patent number: 11238879
Abstract: An acoustic delay measurement apparatus measures an audio delay introduced by an audio system. A programmable delay buffer, which introduces a programmable delay into the audio stream, receives an audio stream from an audio source and outputs a reference signal representing the audio stream. An adaptive filter is responsive to the reference signal to generate an estimate signal to match on convergence of the adaptive filter an audio signal output by the audio system, which is the audio stream delayed by an amount representative of the audio delay introduced by the audio system. A processor including a coefficient analysis block reads coefficients in the adaptive filter after convergence, computes a delay introduced into said estimate signal by the adaptive filter, and adds the computed delay to the programmable delay buffer to provide a measurement of the audio delay.

  • Patent number: 11218825
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for configuring a sound system in a confined passageway. Techniques include installing a plurality of nodes with defined identities at intervals along a confined passageway. Each node includes a microphone and two loudspeakers directed in substantially opposite directions along the confined passageway. Communication is established between each of the nodes and a control system computer. In a first set of steps that is repeated, relative positions of all nodes communicating with the control system computer may be determined. In a second set of steps that is repeated, a distance may be computed for each pair of adjacent nodes of the plurality of nodes. The technique may then include storing the relative positions of all nodes and the computed distance between all adjacent nodes in the control system computer.

  • Patent number: 11206332
Abstract: A pre-distortion system for improved mobile device communications via cancellation of nonlinear distortion is disclosed. The pre-distortion system may transmit an acoustic signal from a network to a device, wherein the acoustic signal includes a linear signal and a nonlinear cancellation signal that cancels at least a portion of nonlinear distortions created once a loudspeaker in the device emits the linear signal. Thus, when a loudspeaker of a mobile device is operating and nonlinear distortions are generated by the loudspeaker or adjacent components of the mobile device in close proximity to the loudspeaker, the pre-distortion system may create one or more nonlinear cancellation signals in the network. The nonlinear cancellation signal may be combined with the linear signal sent to the loudspeaker to cancel the nonlinear distortion signal created by the loudspeaker emitting acoustic sounds from the linear signal. Thus, the nonlinear cancellation signal becomes a pre-distortion signal.
