  • Patent number: 9170433
Abstract: A method for designing and manufacturing a monofocal ophthalmic lens and corresponding lens. A surface of the monofocal ophthalmic lens is defined by: f(x,y)=a1+a2?{square root over (1?a3x2?a4y2)}+a5exp{a6x4+a7y4+a8x2y2} wherein x and y are perpendicular optical axes of the lens in a plane, wherein a1-a8 are coefficients, and wherein a5 is other than 0 and at least one of a6, a7 and a8 is other than 0, including a hyperbolic component and an exponential component. The coefficients can be calculated by an iterative calculation and the merit function as follows: fm = [ ? i ? ? i ? m i 2 ? ( ? ) ] 1 / 2 where mi is a value of an optical property at a specific viewing angle ? with respect to an optical axis of the lens, and ?i is a weighting value.

  • Patent number: 9081209
Abstract: An eyewear system including eyeglasses having first and second lenses; first and second nose pads; and a bridge operably connecting the first and second lenses, the bridge being bendable from a bridge rest position to permit relative movement between the first and second nose pads and providing a bridge pinch force of 50 g or less between the nose pads when the nose pads are moved 7 mm or less from the bridge rest position.

  • Patent number: 8711468
Abstract: A display device includes: a substrate provided on a side of the display surface; a counter substrate disposed to face the substrate; a display layer provided between the substrate and the counter substrate and filled with a dispersion liquid formed of a dispersion medium in which white particles and black particles charged with polarities opposite to each other are dispersed; and a particle constrained layer provided in the display layer, and suppresses the white particles and the black particles from moving in an in-plane direction of the display layer, while allowing the particles to move in the thickness direction of the display layer. In the display device, a particle constrained layer is provided to be separated from the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8693861
Abstract: The lens barrel includes a first frame, a second frame, a drive actuator, and a transmission mechanism that transmits the drive force of the drive actuator. The second frame includes a substantially cylindrical main body, a gear portion, and cam grooves that include an inflection point in the range in which the zoom ratio of the optical system is varied. The transmission mechanism includes a first transmission gear portion that engages with a gear, a second transmission gear portion that is provided coaxially with the first transmission gear portion, and a clutch between the first transmission gear portion and the second transmission gear portion. The clutch temporarily disengages the drive force of the drive actuator transmitted to the first transmission gear portion, only with respect to rotation in one direction.

  • Patent number: 8596780
Abstract: Provided is an eyeglasses structure essentially including a frame body and two temples connected to two ends of the frame body, respectively. Two engagement portions are disposed at the two ends of the frame body, respectively. The two engagement portions are engaged with two decoration elements corresponding in position thereto, respectively. The decoration elements come in different color patterns to allow the eyeglasses structure to change color. Furthermore, the decoration elements pivotally connected to the frame body renders it easy to change the lenses. Hence, the eyeglasses structure is advantageously characterized by ease of assembly and disassembly and diverse patterns.
