  • Patent number: 6161725
Abstract: An improved fluent product dispensing apparatus is disclosed and includes a temperature indicator so that the user may view the temperature of the fluent product components prior to and during dispensing. The apparatus includes one or more supply containers of a reactive component, a dispenser and a conduit for conveying the reactive components to the dispenser. One or more of the supply containers has a temperature indicator mounted to its exterior that is viewable through a package, or carton, that encloses the supply containers. This indicator displays the temperature of the contents of the supply container so that a user can ensure proper dispensing of the reactive components.

  • Patent number: 6161770
Abstract: A fuel injector which has check valve that is hydraulically controlled by a control fluid. A volume of fuel is pressurized within a fuel chamber of the injector by an intensifier. The check valve controls the flow of fuel from the fuel chamber through at least one nozzle opening of a valve body. The flow of control fluid is controlled by a control valve which can move between a first position and a second position. When the control valve is at its first position, the control fluid creates an hydraulic force which moves the check valve to a closed position. When the control valve is at its second position, the control fluid moves the check valve to an open position to allow the pressurized fuel to be ejected or sprayed from the nozzle opening(s). The intensifier can also be hydraulically controlled by a control valve.

  • Patent number: 6161775
Abstract: A feed line assembly includes adjacent running or coaxial delivery and return conduits for transferring asphalt between a spray bar and a pump and tank of an asphalt distributor. The coaxial feed line assembly provides for one directional flow in each of the feed lines between the spray bar and the asphalt tank/pump. The circulating system can be operated in spraying and circulating modes. Asphalt flows through the delivery conduit to the spray bar and out through nozzles in the spraying mode and asphalt flows from the delivery conduit through the spray bar and is returned through the return conduit in the circulation mode. Asphalt is substantially static in the return conduit during the circulation mode. The coaxial feed line assembly serves as a heat exchanger to transfer heat from the delivery conduit to the return conduit and thereby prevent freezing of substantially static asphalt in the return conduit during spraying mode.

  • Patent number: 6142339
Abstract: An aerosol dispenser for dispensing metered dosages of medicaments from a container having a valve stem extending longitudinally therefrom and moveable between an open and closed position. The container is reciprocally moveable within the housing along a longitudinal axis. The housing has a well adapted to receive the valve stem and an exhaust port. The well communicates with the port such that the metered dosage of medicament is dispensed through the port when the valve stem is moved to the open position. A worm is rotatably mounted in the housing about an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis and is responsive to the movement of the reciprocal movement of the container within the housing such that the longitudinal movement causes the worm to rotate about its axis. An indicator member includes dosage indicia visible to a user and a circular gear mounted in the housing about an axis transverse to the axis of the worm and to the longitudinal axis. The circular gear engages the worm.

  • Patent number: 6138768
Abstract: A fire extinguisher including a gas cylinder filled with an extinguishing gas and installed in a cylindrical main casing that has a nozzle head at one end and a spring-loaded bottom cover at another end. The gas cylinder is retained in the main casing by way of a locking pin that extends radially and engages an actuation hole of the main casing; and when the locking pin is manually disengaged from the actuation hole, the gas cylinder is rapidly moved by an expanding spring of the bottom cover in the direction of the axis of the main casing, so that the sealing plate of the gas cylinder is ruptured by a firing pin of the nozzle head, allowing the gas to jet out of the gas cylinder so as to put out a fire. The locking pin can be automatically disengaged from the actuation hole by the use of a temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 6131770
Abstract: A pump system for delivering a polymer melt adhesive to an applicator includes the components: a body having mounted thereon a hopper containing a molten polymer, a dual stream pump mounted on the body for receiving a melt from the hopper and discharging dual streams, a first flow course formed in the body interconnecting one pump stream with an outlet from the body, a flow meter for sensing the flow through the first course, and a second flow course interconnecting the other pump stream to a second outlet from the body. A pressure relief valve disposed in the first and second flow courses is activated in response to a predetermined pressure in each course due to downstream failure and diverts the flow therein from the body outlet to the hopper. Diversion of the flow to the hopper changes the flow rate through the flow meter which automatically activates controls to shutdown the system or activate an alarm.

  • Patent number: 6123271
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning the interior of a vessel by ejecting a rotating stream of fluid. The apparatus features a gear train driven by the fluid received by an inlet, a stationary housing, a rotatable housing mounted for rotation on the stationary housing about a first axis, and a nozzle for ejecting the fluid, the nozzle being rotatably mounted on the rotatable housing so that the nozzle rotates about a second axis. A gear train is located between the inlet and the nozzle. In addition, a first gear, which, along with the gear train, drives rotation of the rotatable housing about the first axis, and a second gear, which drives the rotation of the nozzle housing about the second axis, are disposed on opposite sides of the second axis. A deflector deflects fluid running along the input drive shaft away from the gear train housing and a passage drains the deflected fluid to the surrounding environment.

  • Patent number: 6119903
Abstract: A caulking gun and cartridge combination is provided with afterflow prevention. The cartridge has a tubular body, a forward dispensing opening at a forward end of the tubular body, and a backwall movably disposed within the tubular body. The caulking gun has a trough for receiving the cartridge, and a piston movable parallel to the trough. A trigger handle is used for pushing the backwall froward within the tubular body and causing a reduction of volume within the chamber in the cartridge. The backwall slides substantially in a contactless manner within the tubular body, preferably by way of a reduced diameter of the backwall relative the inner diameter of the tubular body, so that it is pushed backwardly when the body retracts radially after actuation. Alternatively, the cartridge body may be prevented from expanding or may even be actively squeezed so that afterflow caused by the volume reduction of the relaxing tube body is safely prevented.
