Abstract: A recording medium enables special playback processing although part of the AV stream recorded therein is transformed. An AV stream, a first EP map, and a second EP map are recorded on the recording medium. In the AV stream, a part of the multiplexed stream including a first video stream and a second video stream is transformed. The first EP map indicates one or more entry points of the first video stream and the second EP map indicates one or more entry points of the second video stream. TS packets constituting I-pictures of the first video stream are indicated by every 4N-th entry point in the first EP map, and TS packets constituting I-pictures of the second video stream are indicated by the entry points whose presentation time is closest to the presentation time of any one of the every 4N-th entry point in the first EP map.

Abstract: There is disclosed a decoding method for decoding an incoming bitstream entropy-encoded according to an encoding method based on either of arithmetic encoding algorithm and non-arithmetic encoding algorithm, the incoming bitstream including syntax elements. The decoding method includes a first converting step of converting the incoming bitstream into an intermediate bitstream according to the encoding method, the first converting being capable of being omitted, a buffering step of selecting, according to the encoding method, either the intermediate bitstream or the incoming bitstream to store the selected bitstream onto a memory, and a second converting step of reading the selected bitstream from the memory to convert the read bitstream into syntax elements, the read bitstream being either the intermediate bitstream or the incoming bitstream.
Abstract: Moving image editing device, method, and storage medium storing a program provide a smart rendering scheme to minimize the variation of playback time, even when editing moving image data that does not match the save format. The format of the moving image data is compared with the save format. The moving image data is converted into the save format. The moving image data is sequentially joined and saved. A portion or the entirety of the moving image data itself is output if the format of the moving image data matches the save format, or the data encoded into the save format after decoding a portion or the entirety of the moving image data is output if the format of the moving image data does not match the save format. The device repeats sequential joining so that the difference in the playback time with the moving image data is minimized.
Abstract: The present invention facilitates reading in advance information on addresses where data of each reproduction path to be reproduced is stored. Clip AV stream 1 to Clip AV stream 3 of angles forming a multiangle are managed by PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 for the different angles. Each of PlayList#1 to PlayList#3 is divided by angle change points. Each of the divided reproducing sections corresponds to a PlayItem. Correspondences between source packet numbers and presentation time stamps of the angle change points are recorded in an EP_map. The present invention is applicable to DVD recording and reproducing apparatus, for example.
Abstract: A rearward view assistance apparatus in a vehicle includes an imaging device that acquires a vehicle rearward image by taking a rearview from the vehicle, a control circuit that sets a cropped image by cropping part of the vehicle rearward image in response to a state of a vehicle, and a display device that is provided in a passenger compartment and displays the cropped image. The control circuit preferably overlays a lower portion of the cropped image with a mask. The control circuit preferably displays an indication corresponding to a rear portion of the vehicle on the cropped image. The rearward view assistance apparatus is thus provided to view rearward from the vehicle even when passengers are present on the seats in the second and third rows.
Abstract: A recording medium comprises an IC chip including circuitry configured to record data of one or more kinds of software, transmit and receive information to and from an external apparatus without contacting the external apparatus, and communicate with the external apparatus and execute mutual authentication processing for permitting access to the recorded information. The data recorded on the circuitry includes identification information for respective kinds of software recorded on a recording surface of the recording medium, key information necessary for installation of the respective kinds of software, and usage control information indicating a number of installations available for installation of the respective kinds of software. The key information is readout to the external apparatus and the usage information is rewritten by the external apparatus only when mutual authentication is correctly performed between the IC chip and the external apparatus.
Abstract: A computer readable medium may have a data structure for managing reproduction of a data stream including a navigation area for storing navigation data associated with the data stream representing a portion of at least one reproduction path, the navigation data including indication information, the indication information for indicating whether the data stream represents multiple reproduction paths or the data stream represents a single reproduction path. The navigation data may include path number information and an indicator associated with each reproduction path, the path number information for identifying number of the multiple reproduction paths, and the indicator for indicating a file associated with the associated one of the multiple reproduction paths.
Abstract: A transport stream reproduction device, method thereof, and recording medium for efficiently reproducing transport streams. The reproduction section acquires an entry point map from said recording medium, compares a presentation time stamp (PTS) listed in the entry point map with the designated reproduction start position, and searches entry points adjacent to said designated reproduction start position, and a calculation section calculates an address of a transport packet corresponding to the entry points.
Abstract: When displaying a peripheral image in the case where a traveling speed of a vehicle is lower than a predetermined threshold value, it is possible to provide a user with a state of a necessary area of the vehicle without switching a display mode. In an image display system, when the traveling speed of the vehicle drops to below a predetermined threshold value such that an operation mode shifts into a front mode, the display mode becomes a front/side mode that simultaneously displays both a front area and a side area of the vehicle at the time that the front mode is started. A screen presented in the front/side mode can respond to various circumstances such as approaching an intersection, passing by another vehicle, and moving a vehicle toward a roadside. Accordingly, a user can monitor a state of a necessary area around the vehicle, without switching the display mode.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide faster user-selected scene switching during playback of a video production. In one embodiment, several channels of video (e.g., several video streams each depicting a different camera angle) are read from interleaved data on a DVD disc. Each channel's data is maintained in a channel buffer that is input to a video decoder via a selector. When a signal from a user input device indicates that a user has selected a new channel, the selector can immediately provide the selected channel's data from the channel buffer to the video decoder, thus providing an increase in switching speed.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques for managing files of a digital video recorder. Responsive to a request to record content, a DVR identifies and stores information identifying the originator of a recording request. The identifying information may then be presented to a user to identify the origin of a recording timer or a recorded file.
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method of capturing digital video. According to this method, the digital video is received at a first rate. The received digital video includes metadata. The method uses the metadata to store the digital video at a second rate that is different from the first rate. In some embodiments, the first rate is an encoded rate, while the second rate is the digital video's native shooting rate. The digital video's native shooting rate can be any arbitrary rate up to, but not including, the encoded rate. Some embodiments provide a method of outputting digital video from a computer. From a storage structure of the computer, this method retrieves a video clip. In this video clip, the method embeds a metadata structure and records a set of metadata in this structure. The method then outputs the video clip with the embedded metadata.
Abstract: A stereo image capturing device includes two image capturing modules, an image processing unit, a memory and a processor for respectively storing and executing the image processing unit. Each image capturing module includes a liquid crystal lens, a voltage drive chip, and an image sensor. The image processing unit includes a WDF module, a focus control module, and an image synthesize module. The WDF module determines the sharpness of the colors of images, and acquires object distance of the images according to the sharpness. When the object distance is bigger than a predetermined distance, the WDF module modifies the sharpness of the images, otherwise the focus control module drives the voltage drive chip to change focal distance of the liquid crystal lens according to the object distance. The image synthesize module synthesizes the images to stereo images.
