  • Patent number: 4862685
Abstract: A support frame is provided for support from the three point hitch of a tractor and rotatably journals an elongated horizontal roll for rotation about an axis extending transversely of the support frame. The support frame includes opposite side ground skid portions and the roll has its lower periphery elevated slightly above the under surfaces of the ground skid portions. Although other structure may be provided for driving the roll, a forwardly directed swing arm is pivotally supported from the support frame at its rear end and rotatably journals a ground engageable drive wheel at its forward end. The roll is journalled for rotation about an axis coinciding with the axis of oscillation of the support arm and the drive wheel is drivingly coupled to the roll for rotating the latter in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the drive wheel and at a peripheral speed which is at least substantially equal to the peripheral speed of the ground wheel.

  • Patent number: 4835951
Abstract: A vehicle is controllably powered to be steerably moved over an area. Mounted on the front of the vehicle is a cutter assembly. Also mounted on the vehicle is a hopper. Mowed cuttings are delivered by a conduit from the cutter to the hopper. An outlet mounted within the hopper is coupled in use to the conduit for distributing received cuttings on into the interior of the hopper. A driver mounted with respect to the hopper moves that outlet in a systematic pattern to vary the direction of distribution of the received cuttings.

  • Patent number: 4708091
Abstract: An animal watering apparatus having a tank for storing a supply of water. The tank has a top wall having a first tubular baffle surrounding an opening for accommodating a float valve assembly operable to supply water to the tank chamber. A second tubular baffle surrounds a drinking well. The first and second baffles are spaced from the walls of the housing to allow water to circulate about the baffles to minimize the freezing of the water in the float valve assembly and the drinking well. A closure associated with the drinking well minimizes the freezing of the water in the drinking well. The cover is a movable open float located within the drinking well. A second form of the cover is a pivotal lid that is moved by the animal to an open position to provide access to the drinking well.

  • Patent number: 4659008
Abstract: A tampering-proof container for storing currency for use in conjunction with an automated teller machine (ATM). The currency door of the container through which the currency passes when the container is mounted on an ATM is moved positively between the open and closed positions when on the ATM. An indicator wheel within the container gives an indication or count of the number of times the currency door has been opened and closed to provide a check on potential sophisticated pilfering. When the count on the indicator wheel reaches a programmed predetermined amount, the currency door is locked in a closed position with first and second locking linkage inside the container locking the currency door in the closed position. A seal on a loading door on the container must be broken to gain access to the inside of the container to unlock the first and second locking linkage and to reset the indicator wheel.

  • Patent number: 4653254
Abstract: Auxiliary power apparatus having particular application to motor-driven lawn and garden devices is described. The auxiliary power apparatus operates an auxiliary load from a motor power source on, for example, the lawn and garden equipment in question. A collar member is fixedly attached to the drive shaft of a rotary power source. A flexible drive shaft including a flexible driven shaft and a flexible sleeve arranged about the driven shaft is connected at one end to the mechanical load by means of a driven shaft. A second end of the driven shaft ends in a shaft extension member. The collar member is formed to receive the shaft extension member and a second locking member is arranged at the second end of the flexible sleeve for releasable engagement with a locking member on the collar. Thus, the flexible drive shaft is releasably connected to the collar which in turn is connected to the drive shaft of the power source.
