  • Patent number: 9049706
Abstract: An embodiment of the present application provides a relay timing adjustment method, system and device, relating to the technical field of wireless communications, for use in solving the problem of how to synchronize base station downlink transmission and relay device downlink transmission in an Advanced Long Term Evolution (LTE-A) system. In this application, the base station sends an access downlink transmission timing adjustment command to the relay device. When the relay device receives said access downlink transmission timing adjustment command, the downlink transmission timing is adjusted in said relay device according to said received access downlink transmission timing adjustment command. This invention is thus able to synchronize relay device access downlink transmission timing with base station downlink transmission timing.

  • Patent number: 9036464
Abstract: A system for distributing network traffic among direct hardware access datapaths, comprising: a processor; one or more activated PNICs; a host operating system; and a virtual machine (VM). Each activated PNIC sends and receives data packets over a network. Each activated PNIC is configured with a virtual function. The VM includes a VNIC and a virtual link aggregator configured to maintain a list identifying each activated PNIC. Virtual function mappings for the VM associate the VM with virtual functions for the activated PNICs. The virtual link aggregator selects the first activated PNIC for servicing a network connection and determines a virtual function for the first activated PNIC. The VNIC for the first activated PNIC uses the virtual function to directly transfer network traffic for the network connection between the VM and the first activated PNIC.

  • Patent number: 9014056
Abstract: A hybrid bridge can implement functionality for selectively populating its bridge tables based on preferred transmission routes to influence other network devices to transmit frames based on the preferred transmission routes. The hybrid bridge determines a preferred transmission route for communicating with each network device in the hybrid communication network. For each of the network devices, it is determined whether the hybrid bridge is part of the preferred transmission route associated with the network device. Depending on whether the hybrid bridge is part of the preferred transmission route to the network device and/or whether a network interface of the hybrid bridge is a transmit or a receive interface on the preferred transmission route, a local bridge table or a remote bridge table of the network interface can be populated with at least the address of a destination network device.

  • Patent number: 9001784
Abstract: A communication system that employs Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN) of different Radio Access Technologies (RATs) ensures that simultaneous handover to 1×RTT and 1×EVDO is attempted only when warranted. The User Equipment (UE) that has multiple transceivers and is actively involved in a packet data session can be transferred from LTE to 1×EVDO. A criterion (e.g., cost, subscriber preference, operator preference, or network data traffic) can be used to determine when it is warranted to incur the setup delay time to perform simultaneous handover of both a voice connection and a packet data session. Conversely, if there is no active data session, generally the UE can be handed over only to 1×RTT for the voice/Short Message Service (SMS) call. In an aspect, the criterion can still dictate setting up simultaneously even for an active packet data session, such as for maintaining a time critical function of the device.

  • Patent number: 8989029
Abstract: Methods and systems for providing quality of service over IP networks are disclosed. In one aspect, a flow label field of a header may be divided into first and second portions. The first portion defines a quality of service. The second portion identifies a message flow. Once the first portion defining the quality of service is established by the sending node, no nodes in the transmission path may change the quality of service value. Each node may route packets based on the quality of service field, or may modify the traffic class field of the header based on the quality of service and then route the packet based on the traffic class field. A service provider can use DSCP within its own administrative domain(s), and end users can set and maintain QoS using the methods described herein, thereby providing a framework for end-to-end QoS using IP packets.

  • Patent number: 8976694
Abstract: This invention relates to the proposal of component carrier (de)activation message that is allowing a activation or deactivation of one or more component carriers in the uplink or downlink. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of the new component carrier (de)activation message in methods for (de)activation of downlink component carrier(s) configured for a mobile terminal, a base station and a mobile terminal. To enable efficient and robust (de)activation of component carriers, the invention proposes to use component carrier-specific or cell-RNTI(s) for the scrambling of the CRC of the component carrier (de)activation message, and to explicitly indicate the intended recipient of the component carrier (de)activation message in a corresponding field in the message. Furthermore, the invention further proposes different designs of the component carrier (de)activation message and further uses thereof, so as to trigger CQI reporting and/or SRS transmission by a mobile terminal.
