Abstract: A bed includes a mattress set on which a user's body is placed, an adjustable bedframe to adjust a position or orientation of the mattress set for various sitting and sleeping positions, and a dryer to dry the mattress set. The dryer includes a fan, a filter, and a heater to discharge filtered hot air toward the dryer to reduce mildew and mites. A humidity sensing sheet may be provided to sense a humidity level at different regions or areas of the bed, and the dryer may be controlled to supply hot air to regions of the bed having a higher humidity level than a predetermined humidity level or humidity range.

Abstract: A baby rocking device, adapted to impart a reciprocating cycling rocking movement to a perambulator, push-chair or the like, comprising a single roller, having an electric motor arranged inside the roller, the roller configured for rolling on a floor. The roller includes an inner non-rotating core having two ends portions projecting from opposite ends of the roller and connected to two receiving and supporting members configured for receiving two respective wheels of the perambulator or push-chair, so that the perambulator or push-chair is placed astride the single roller, and a cylindrical outer shell for contact with the floor, which is rotatably mounted on the inner core. The electric motor is carried by the inner core and is provided for actuating the rotation of the outer shell alternately in two opposite directions of rotation, so as to cause rolling of the single roller on the floor alternately in two opposite directions.

Abstract: A zero gap foldable powered bed comprises a bed frame and a sliding mechanism disposed upon said bed frame. The bed further comprises back, lumbar, seat, thigh, and leg decks operatively connected to the sliding mechanism, and the bed frame includes a head end frame member which is disposed within a vertically oriented plane. Linear actuators are operatively connected to the back and leg decks, and when the back deck is elevated or lowered, the sliding mechanism slides upon the bed frame so as to maintain the head end frame member, to which a headboard may be attached, within the vertically oriented plane such that a free end portion of the back deck will always be disposed immediately adjacent to the vertically oriented plane such that the back and shoulders of a person, lying or sitting upon the bed, will remain close to a nightstand, which may be disposed close to the bed, such that articles disposed upon the nightstand are always readily accessible.

Abstract: An air distribution unit for environmentally controlled furniture, such as a bed. In representative embodiments, the air distribution unit includes a fan enclosure for accommodating a fan, with a fan enclosure inlet upstream of the fan and a fan enclosure outlet downstream of the fan, the fan enclosure including an air-flow guidance member positioned in the fan enclosure, which defines at least in part, an air-flow path between the fan enclosure inlet and the fan enclosure outlet, wherein an inner surface of the air-flow guidance member, adjacent to the air-flow path, is at least partially sound-absorbing.

Abstract: A bed system includes microclimate control capabilities for providing quality sleep experience. The bed system can include a microclimate control subsystem configured to supply conditioned air (e.g., heated or cooled air) to a mattress, or draw ambient air from the mattress, to achieve a desired temperature at the top of the mattress. Utilizing supply of conditioned air to provide air at desired temperature to the mattress system, or utilizing air suction to drain heat away from the mattress system, can provide precise microclimate control at the mattress, thereby permitting conformable sleep.

Abstract: An apparatus for positioning a patient during surgery includes a surgical table frame having a longitudinal dimension and a centerline, and at least one laterally movable support mounted thereon that includes longitudinal rails and transverse rails, and one or more modular body supports mounted on the surgical table frame. The laterally movable support includes a pair of platforms where one platform is laterally translatable relative to the other platform on a plurality of tracks between the platforms, the lateral translation being to one or both of the left and the right of the centerline.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus for supporting a patient comprising a support frame and a support deck coupled to the support frame. The support deck has a deck section arranged to articulate relative to said support frame between a first position and a second position. An actuator is interposed in force-translating relation between the support frame and the deck section to articulate the deck section. The actuator comprises a biasing device configured to store mechanical energy and having an interface. The actuator further comprises a torque multiplier coupled to the deck section and engaged with the interface to translate mechanical energy stored in the biasing device into force acting on the deck section to urge the deck section toward the first position.

Abstract: A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of individually pocketed springs. A dimensionally stabilizing substrate is secured to at least some of the strings on one of the top and bottom surfaces of the strings. A scrim sheet is secured to at least some of the strings on an opposed surface of the strings to maintain the positions of the strings. The dimensionally stabilizing substrate is laterally rigid enough to maintain length and width dimensions of the coil spring assembly. However, the dimensionally stabilizing substrate is flexible enough to allow the pocketed spring assembly to be roll packed for shipping.

In another particular embodiment, the foot support device includes sidewalls and a backwall that can flatten and pivot relative to one another, facilitating a collapsible foot support device.
