  • Patent number: 9636526
Abstract: A rappelling device that frictionally controls rope flow, thereby allowing adjustable control of a load relative to an anchor is disclosed. For example, a coupling link, such as a carabiner, is clipped into a small hole, a bight of rope is pushed through a separate large hole, and then the rope is clipped into the carabiner. A user may use the rappelling device to increase the friction while the rope is weighted by weaving the rope through one or more openings on the device. In doing so, the user does not need to feed the end of the rope through the one or more openings. The rappelling device provides incremental adjustment of friction while the rope is weighted. Additionally, a gland cut into the inner circumference of the small hole may be added to grip and limit axial movement of the carabiner.

  • Patent number: 9599144
Abstract: A link such as a karabiner has a body portion and a gate portion which is mounted to the body portion about a pivot. The gate defines a free end which is arranged to inter-engage with a nose of the body portion to define a closed ring for receiving a rope passing therethrough and including a first sleeve which, when the ring is closed, is moveable between a first position where the gate is free to rotate about the pivot in at least one direction, and a second position where the sleeve at least partly encloses the free end of the gate and the nose and substantially prevents rotation of the gate about the pivot. The link further includes a second sleeve which is internally threaded and which is mounted on an externally threaded portion of the gate for movement towards and away from the free end of the gate and which may be rotated towards the first sleeve when the first sleeve is in the second position, to prevent movement of the sleeve into first position in which the gate is free to rotate.

  • Patent number: 9596907
Abstract: A fastening unit includes a base, a fixing seat, two shaft seats, a main body, an engaging member, and an abutting member. The fixing seat and the two shaft seats are disposed on the base. The main body is detachably disposed on the two shaft seats. The engaging member is connected to the side of the main body that is away from the two shaft seats. The abutting member protrudes from the bottom surface of the main body. When the fastening unit is in a closed state, the engaging member engages with the fixing seat. As a result, the bottom surface faces the base, and the abutting member is adjacent to the base. When the fastening unit is transferred from the closed state to an opened state, the engaging member disengages from the fixing seat, and the main body pivots relative to the two shaft seats.

  • Patent number: 9545133
Abstract: A safety belt buckle includes a base unit, a cover covering and combined with the base unit, a locking device mounted in the cover, a torsion spring mounted on the cover, and a driving unit mounted on the cover. When in use, a latch plate of a safety belt is inserted into one of the insertion slots of the base unit. Thus, the user has to apply a determined force to overcome the elastic force of the torsion spring and to drive the driving unit so as to release the latch plate of the safety belt, thereby preventing the driving unit from being driven freely by an external force due to an unintentional touch or hit, and thereby preventing the latch plate of the safety belt from being unlatched easily.

  • Patent number: 9499317
Abstract: A banding strap has an elongate member made from a flexible, resilient material. The elongate member has a stop section and a seat section. The stop section has one or more stops spaced along elongate member and each stop has a diameter that is greater than a diameter of elongate member. The seat section defines a seat that faces the stop section along the elongate member and a gap above the seat relative to the elongate member that is sized to receive the elongate member. The gap has a width that is less than diameter of the one or more stops. The seat defines a cavity that restrains one of the stops against a force applied along the elongate member. The stop section engages the seat section by bending the elongate member around such that the elongate member is substantially parallel to itself at the stop section and the seat section.
