  • Patent number: 6499677
Abstract: A fuel injector having a fuel inlet, a fuel outlet, and a fuel passageway extending along an axis between the fuel inlet and the fuel outlet. The fuel injector includes a body having an inlet portion, an outlet portion, and a neck portion disposed between the inlet portion and the outlet portion. An adjusting tube is disposed within the neck portion of the body. A spring is disposed within the neck portion of the body, the spring having an upstream end proximate to the adjusting tube and a downstream end opposite the upstream end. A filter assembly is disposed within the tube assembly to provide a reaction member for the spring. An armature having a lower portion is disposed within the neck portion of the body and displaceable along the axis relative to the body. The downstream end of the spring is disposed proximate to the armature, the spring applying a biasing force to the armature. A valve seal is substantially rigidly connected to the lower portion of the armature.

  • Patent number: 6378784
Abstract: A die tip for use in meltblowing liquid material onto a moving substrate having a layer of entrained air moving in a common direction therewith. The die tip includes a base member having a plurality of liquid dispensing outlets for dispensing liquid material toward the substrate and a plurality of air discharge outlets for discharging air toward the liquid material dispensed from the liquid dispensing outlets. The base member includes at least one air deflecting member extending outwardly from the base member and toward the substrate. The air deflecting member is operable to deflect the moving entrained air in a direction away from the air discharge outlets of the meltblowing die tip. The air deflecting member substantially reduces the build up of dust and other debris carried in the entrained air around the air discharge outlets to maintain consistent and reliable operation of the meltblowing die tip.

  • Patent number: 6296196
Abstract: There is described a battery driven atomizer in which an alternating voltage is applied to a piezoelectric actuation element to cause it to expand and contract and vibrate an atomizing orifice plate. The alternating voltage is controlled to produce a high amplitude vibration during a first portion of a drive period, to initiate atomization, and thereafter to produce a lower amplitude vibration to sustain atomization during the remainder of the drive period. The frequency of the alternating voltage is swept repeatedly during each drive period.

  • Patent number: 5961042
Abstract: Water on fire appearing water displays characterized by a burning fuel/air mixture entrained in a stream of water. The display uses a self entraining nozzle disposed at a proper level in a body of water, with a source of flammable gas provided a flow of gas to the lower pressure portion of the air entraining region of the nozzle and with the proper flow rate to obtain a combustible mixture of fuel/air entrained in the air stream. Coordinated variation of the water and gas flow under computer control provided a dynamic display while maintaining the flame throughout the variations. Other features are disclosed.
