  • Patent number: 5667185
Abstract: A holder clamp assembly having a compressible, substantially spherical gripping member with a centrally located cavity, a compressing mechanism, a mounting bracket, and optionally a swivel joint. The cavity of the gripping member is a channel for receiving the barrel of a flashlight or other substantially cylindrical and elongated section of a device. The gripping member while holding the device may pivot inside the compressing mechanism. The compressing mechanism constricts the gripping member around the device holding the device in place. The optional swivel joint connects the compressing mechanisms to the mounting bracket. When the optional swivel joint is used, the mounting bracket once tightened on a substrate holds the swivel joint in place. One member of the mounting bracket when inverted relative to the other members, enables clamping onto smaller substrates.

  • Patent number: 5639158
Abstract: An LED-array light source comprises an LED-array and a light-transmitting member disposed thereon. The light-transmitting member has a pair of opposed major surface for receiving and emitting output light emitted from the LED-array. A plurality of a first reflectors are formed on a light emitting surface of the light-transmitting member so as to partially reflect the output light toward a light-receiving surface of the light-transmitting member. A second light reflector is provided on the light receiving surface of the light-transmitting member so as to rereflect the light reflected from the first reflector to the emitting surface and thereby guiding the output light from the LED-array to an intermediate area between adjacent LEDs. Thus, it is possible to obtain a uniform linear light source with small number of LEDs.

  • Patent number: 5634340
Abstract: One aspect of the present invention relates to a process of cogeneration utilizing a compressed gas energy storage system which includes a gas storage area, a compression train for pressurizing a gas to be stored in the gas storage area, and an expansion train for depressurizing high pressure gas released from the gas storage area. The process includes operating the compression train during off-peak electricity utilization periods to produce a compressed gas. The compressed gas is stored in the gas storage area and later released during peak electricity utilization periods through the expansion train to generate electricity. This reduces the compressed gas pressure and temperature. The gas can then be used for refrigeration by contacting it with a material to be chilled with that gas. One aspect of this invention involves generating electricity and effecting refrigeration by depressurization of natural gas from high pipeline transmission pressures to lower distribution pressures.

  • Patent number: 5603268
Abstract: A control system of coal pulverizer associated with a rotary classifier, applicable to a pulverized coal burning boiler or the like, includes a function generating section, a computing section, and a rotational speed controlling section. The function generating section receives a signal representing a coal feed rate and outputs signals representing a preset proper range of a current to be fed to the motor of the coal pulverizer for such coal feed rate. The computing section is responsive to a signal representing the current motor current and the signals produced by the function generating section to output a command signal which will maintain the speed of the rotary classifier when the motor current represented by the motor current signal is within the proper range, and to output a command signal which will decrease or increase the speed of the rotary classifier, respectively, in the case where the same motor current has increased or decreased beyond the proper range.
