  • Patent number: 7827487
Abstract: One embodiment includes a system for receiving page-specific user feedback concerning a particular web page of a website. The system includes a first icon viewable with the particular web page independent of input from a user subsequent to the user accessing the particular web page. The first icon includes a bar located proximate an edge of the particular web page and having a length that is at least approximately equal to a length of the edge of the particular web page. Substantially all visual content of the particular web page is unobscured by the first icon. A user pointer being placed on the first icon for at least a predefined amount of time causes a second icon to become viewable with the particular web page. The second icon requests the user to select the first icon to provide page-specific user feedback concerning the particular web page. A selection of the first icon causing a feedback window to become viewable to the user. The feedback window solicits feedback from the user.

  • Patent number: 7810038
Abstract: A method, system and computer readable medium for providing an editing mode for a graphical user interface (GUI) is described. A toggle widget is provided to a user of a GUI during execution of the application presenting the GUI. When the user presses the toggle widget, the GUI is placed in an editing mode, whereby the normal functions of all of the widgets of the GUI, except for the toggle widget, are suspended. While in editing mode, the user is allowed to modify the locations of all of the widgets of the GUI, except for the toggle widget. The user subsequently modifies the locations of widgets of the GUI. Then, the user presses the toggle widget again and the GUI is exited from editing mode. Once exited from editing mode, the normal functions of all of the widgets of the GUI are restored and the new locations of the widgets are fixed.

  • Patent number: 7788602
Abstract: Strings are recognized and annotated, or labeled, with a type label by a recognizer plug-in. Application program modules may use the type label and other metadata to provide users with a choice of electronic commerce actions. In addition, the user may be provided with a download Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and download action plug-ins for that type label. An ActionGUID may be used to specify the class ids (CLSIDs) of the action plug-ins that may provide actions for a particular semantic category type label. Each DLL has a class id (CLSID), which is a GUID. The ActionGUID is a GUID that is specified by the recognizer plug-in and which corresponds to the CLSID(s) of the only action plug-ins that should be permitted to provide actions for the semantic category type label provided by the recognizer plug-in.

  • Patent number: 7765492
Abstract: A system for consolidating associated buttons on a screen into easily accessible groups includes: a control button and at least one other button that appears when the control button is selected, where the at least one other button is contiguous with the control button. A user can quickly and conveniently select buttons. Furthermore, a significant amount of on-screen real estate is saved because the buttons used are small and square rather than long and rectangular. Further, the configuration of nested menus is such that it takes up little space on the screen. In addition, the menu is ergonomic because the buttons are contiguous, and as such selections can be made without the mouse pointer needing to move very far across the screen.

  • Patent number: 7761798
Abstract: Methods and systems for controlling the screen display appearance for a digital processing system. In one exemplary embodiment, a data value, typically stored in a non-volatile memory, is retrieved; this data value represents an appearance of an enclosure of a digital processing system. An appearance of a display of this digital processing system is then set based upon the appearance of the enclosure. In one example, the appearance is the color of the enclosure which determines various colors and backgrounds of objects in a graphical user interface of the digital processing system. Other methods, apparatuses and computer readable media for causing methods to be performed are also described.

  • Patent number: 7752545
Abstract: A generator sequence is defined and used for providing an enhanced user experience and increased user control. A generator sequence is established as a series of user inputs that trigger an output. User inputs to the generator system managing the generator sequence are employed to define a user performance value for a specific point, or position, in the generator sequence. The user performance value is then used to establish a new user point, or position, in the generator sequence. The user inputs and/or the new user generator sequence point are used to identify one or more feedback effects files and/or functions and one or more benefit effects files and/or functions for producing user output. A user can utilize the feedback effects and/or benefit effects to alter their inputs to control the generator sequence.

  • Patent number: 7743337
Abstract: In an electronic map apparatus, an electronic map is displayed in accordance with map data read out from a DVD-ROM. Then, distance display circles which have a common center located at a point on the electronic map and each interconnect points on the electronic map at equal geographical distances from the point are drawn. As a result, it is possible to know an approximate geographical distance to a destination intuitively and easily in the electronic map apparatus which is typically used for car navigation.

  • Patent number: 7712050
Abstract: A design tool hierarchically presents information about a design with nested blocks. For example, the design tool presents scheduling information for the design in a hierarchical Gantt chart. The scheduling information includes hierarchical design schedule blocks which accurately depict the timing and scheduling of the nested blocks of the design. Each of the hierarchical design schedule blocks includes control steps numbered relative to the block. The scheduling information also includes a hierarchical list of scheduled operations for the design. The hierarchical list emphasizes which operations are associated with which nested blocks. The scheduling information further includes pseudo-operation icons that are easily differentiated from real operation icons in the hierarchical Gantt chart.
