  • Patent number: 11540186
Abstract: When frequency range 1 (FR1) (e.g., Sub6 Ghz radio coverage), and FR2 (e.g., mmW coverage) are present in a given area, there can be a broader coverage from FR1 broadcasting in addition to targeted coverage from FR2 broadcasting. Consequently, FR1 can overlap FR2. To generate system efficiencies, the FR1 and FR2 spectrums can be combined by carrier aggregation (CA) and/or dual connectivity (DC). Thus, a hybrid approach can combine use of both CA and DC, based on radio access network instructions and radio frequency conditions experienced by a user equipment device as it transitions between CA and DC coverage areas.

  • Patent number: 11528744
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems are provided for transmitting data. A method includes: sending a target random access preamble to a base station; receiving a target random access response that is sent by the base station based on the target random access preamble and carries repetition-number-indicating information; and transmitting, in accordance with a target transmission repetition number, the target uplink data to the base station during the random access procedure. The target transmission repetition number indicates a number of times the user equipment is configured to repeatedly transmit the target uplink data to the base station during the random access procedure. The target transmission repetition number is determined based on the repetition-number-indicating information and a target transmission block size. The target transmission block size is for the user equipment to transmit the target uplink data to the base station during the random access procedure.

  • Patent number: 11516829
Abstract: Embodiments include methods, performed by first node in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, for scheduling uplink (UL) transmissions in the IAB network. Such methods include receiving, from a first downstream node in the IAB network, a first buffer status report (BSR) indicating a first amount of UL data, with the first amount including UL data buffered at the first downstream node, and/or UL data expected to be received by the first downstream node. Such methods also include sending, to the first downstream node, a first UL resource grant indicating a time schedule of resources available for the first downstream node to transmit at least a portion of the first amount of UL data. In some embodiments, the first UL resource grant is sent after receiving the first BSR and without receiving a second UL resource grant from an upstream node in response to a second BSR.

  • Patent number: 11516815
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamically capping an MCS index. A determination that one or more user devices are serviced by a sector of a cell site that has a Sector Power Ratio (SPR) above a threshold is made. Based on the SPR being above the threshold, the MCS index of the one or more user devices is capped. In response to the capped MCS index, a first Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) value is assigned to at least one of the one or more user devices based on a triangulation area corresponding to a location of the at least one of the one or more user devices.

  • Patent number: 11470620
Abstract: Embodiments provide functionality for dynamic handling of network slice priorities. In an embodiment, a slice priority manager receives, from a network services node, data indicating changes in network resources available for maintaining instantiated network slices in a communication network. Based on the received data, changes in the network services node's ability to maintain the instantiated network slices are identified and a communication service provider is notified of the change. To continue, slice priority data that indicates a preferred order of a portion of the network slices for allocating the network resources is received from the communication service provider. In turn, an indication of the slice priority data is forwarded to the network services node to update allocation of network resources for the slices.

  • Patent number: 11382138
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to random access in a communication system. A first device receives a criterion to select a random access type for performing random access to a second device. The first device further determines whether the first device is allocated a contention-free random access resource for a certain random access type, and then performs the random access to the second device based on the determination and conditionally based on the criterion. As such, in the case where contention-free random access resource has been allocated for a certain random access type, the device can conditionally apply the criterion for selection of the random access type and can thus perform random access with improved efficiency.
