  • Patent number: 7144240
Abstract: The present invention is a methodology and apparatus for investment casting and injection molding of dentures. The apparatus utilizes a dental flask placed in a press held in position by a turn screw. An injector, comprised of a piston inserted into a dual open ended cylinder containing dental appliance materiel, is connected to the dental flask. A hydraulic jack presses the piston further into the cylinder to inject the dental appliance material into dental flask. To prevent contaminating contact of the dental appliance with the cylinder, the dental material is inserted first into an open ended bag that partially placed in a wire loop passing through the cylinder. As the wire loop is withdrawn from the cylinder, the open end bag is drawn into and properly oriented within the cylinder so that the open end of the bag meets the injection aperture of the dental flask.

  • Patent number: 7143990
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the production of ophthalmic lenses, and particularly contact lenses, which minimizes damage of the lens in removal from the mold. The ophthalmic lens is produced in a mold having a male part and a female part that are placed in proximate relation to each other to create a lens-forming cavity. At least the female surface of the female part mold is preferably coated with plasma and is irradiated for a predetermined time such that the female surface and/or surface coating is at least partially cured. Once the female surface, and alternately the male surface and other surfaces of the mold, is at least partially cured, a curable lens-forming material is placed into the lens-forming cavity and cured to form an ophthalmic lens.

  • Patent number: 7134860
Abstract: The mold access and storage structure comprises an elevated work platform of generally rectangular configuration which is supported at the comers thereof by columns which straddle a machine. The top of the platform includes a walkway and a plurality of spaced apart parallel oil and water containment reservoirs or pans for receiving and storing molds when not in use by the machine and for collecting any oil or lubricant draining from the mold. A vertical ladder permits a person to access the work platform for maintenance purposes. A railing enclosure is mounted around the top of the platform and extends around the outer periphery of the walkway and reservoirs. The railing enclosure includes a pair of slideable gates which, when open, prevents the machine from operating and permits a ladder to be pivoted and moved from the walkway, into the space between the open slideable gates, thereby permitting a maintenance worker to access the top of the machine.
