  • Patent number: 11895010
Abstract: A network system that uses a cluster of edge nodes to send and receive multicast traffic is provided. The network system is a network virtualization environment that includes one or more distributed routers, each distributed router implemented by virtualization software running on one or more host machines. The network system also includes a cluster of edge nodes for sending data from the one or more distributed routers to one or more uplink/upstream physical routers outside of a datacenter and for receiving data from the physical routers to the distributed routers. One of the edge nodes is a designated edge node that queries for membership information for one or more multicast groups to be received by at least two edge nodes of the cluster of edge nodes. The cluster of edge nodes forwards multicast traffic to and from the distributed routers according to the received membership information.

  • Patent number: 11882016
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for validating multiple paths used for routing network traffic in a network. In one aspect, a network controller can identify one or more intermediate nodes on each of multiple paths in a network, wherein the multiple paths begin at a first network node and end at a last network node. The network controller can further generate a data packet with a label at the first network node, forward the test data packet from the first network node, along each of the one or more intermediate nodes, to the last network node, and perform a data plane validation process for validating packet forwarding from the first network node to the last network node based on the label(s) by determining if a number of the multiple paths equals to a number of packets received at the last network node.

  • Patent number: 11848861
Abstract: Methods for Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Traffic Engineering (TE) design for IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS) include determining that a network is a flat MPLS-enabled Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or Unified Communications IMS network including an IMS Core site and excluding Session Border Controllers (SBCs). The network further includes multiple user endpoints (UEs). Responsive to determining that the network is a flat MPLS-enabled VoIP or Unified Communications IMS network, the computer system configures a first set of TE LSPs between each UE and the IMS Core site. The computer system configures a second set of TE LSPs between each UE and each other UE of the plurality of UEs to form a full mesh. A display device of the computer system generates a graphical representation of the network. The graphical representation represents the first set of TE LSPs and the second set of TE LSPs connecting each UE.

  • Patent number: 11838210
Abstract: Local Congestion Mitigation re-routes traffic around a congested network segment without regard for end point destinations of the re-routed traffic. By inhibiting consideration of end point destinations, determinations of alternate routes are simplified relative to techniques that compute new end-to-end routes for traffic when a congested segment is encountered. These methods therefore remain relatively efficient as a network grows in size and network routes within the network become increasingly complex.

  • Patent number: 11824792
Abstract: A system for facilitating sender-side congestion control is provided. During operation, the system, on a sender node, can determine the utilization of a buffer at a last-hop switch to a receiver node based on in-flight packets to the receiver node. The receiver node can be reachable from the sender node via the last-hop switch. The system can then determining a fraction of available space in the buffer for packets from the sender node based on the utilization of the buffer. Subsequently, the system can determine whether the fraction of the available space in the buffer can accommodate a next packet from the sender node while avoiding congestion at the buffer at the receiver node. If the fraction of the available space in the buffer can accommodate the next packet, the system can allow the sender node to send the next packet to the receiver node.

  • Patent number: 11818038
Abstract: Techniques for initiator-based data-plane validation of segment routed, multiprotocol label switched (MPLS) networks are described herein. In examples, an initiating node may determine to validate data-plane connectivity associated with a network path of the MPLS network. The initiating node may store validation data in a local memory of the initiating node. In examples, the initiating node may send a probe message that includes a request for identification data associated with a terminating node. The terminating node may send a probe reply message that includes the identification data, as well as, in some examples, a code that instructs the initiating node to perform validation. In examples, the initiating node may use the validation data stored in memory to compare to the identification data received from the terminating node to validate data-plane connectivity. In some examples, the initiating node may indicate a positive or negative response after performing the validation.
