  • Patent number: 4844357
Abstract: A yarn kind changing process for a spinning winder which comprises the steps of stopping winding of a bobbin being wound on a spinning spindle after a yarn kind changing instruction, cutting a sliver which extends between a draft part of a spinnig frame and a yarn supply station and joining a supply side sliver of a different kind to the sliver remaining on the draft part, starting the spindle again to wind yarn of the new kind on a layer of the yarn of the preceding kind on a winding bobbin, and removing the yarn of the new kind wound on the yarn of the preceding kind before the fully wound bobbin doffed from the spindle is subsequently supplied to a winder.

  • Patent number: 4843739
Abstract: The present invention involves an inner shoe material with adsorbent properties, whereby activated carbon particles are fixed as the adsorbent material by means of an adhesive substance in a punctiform manner to the side of the material facing away from the foot. The inner shoe material of the invention can be designed as inside lining, insoles, slipsoles, as inner sole of the shoe or as a covering material for the inner sole of the shoe. The inner shoe material of the invention can e.g. be used for combat boots with integrated C-protection or for safety boots with protection against aggressive chemicals. The inner shoe material has the advantage that it exhibits a high degree of scuff resistance on the one hand and the adsorbent activated carbon is freely accessible to the substances to be adsorbed, on the other.

  • Patent number: 4843809
Abstract: In a spinning machine of the type having plural spinning stations each including a drafting system, a bobbin spindle and a coaxial funnel, the automatic exchange of empty bobbin tubes for fully wound bobbin tubes on the spindles is accomplished by interrupting the spinning operation without yarn breakage or severing, separating the spindles and funnels axially and radially from one another, removing the fully wound bobbin tubes and placing empty bobbin tubes on the spindles, engaging the still unbroken yarns with the empty bobbin tubes, then severing the yarns between the removed fully wound bobbin tubes and the replacement empty tubes, and repositioning the funnels and spindles and resuming spinning operation.

  • Patent number: 4843736
Abstract: The sandal has a laminated sole comprising an inner sole and an outer sole, both formed of flexible cellular material. The inner sole is thicker, less dense and softer than the outer sole. A single retaining strap is employed which also is made of flexible and elastic cellular material and which has on its broad outer faces elastic stretch fabric material. The strap is in a figure eight configuration with its forward closed loop passing through a hole in the inner sole and out to the edge thereof through a slot in the under surface of the inner sole. The rear loop of the strap, which is formed by the free ends thereof, lies in a slot in the under surface of the inner sole just forward of the heel region of the sandal. The ends of the straps are affixed to the inner sole to hold them in place.

  • Patent number: 4835799
Abstract: A portable apparatus for manipulating a hinged member, comprising a telescoping handle and a jaw having upper and lower jaw members pivotally connected to one end of the handle. The upper and lower jaw members are oriented parallel to each other and are spaced apart for receiving the hinged member therebetween. The inner surfaces of the upper and lower jaw members are shaped for conforming to the shape of the hinged member. First and second resilient members are connected to the upper and lower jaw members, respectively, and to the handle for biasing the jaw member toward a position wherein the jaw is aligned with an axis of the handle. The biasing action of the resilient members provides a clamping action to prevent the hinged member from being dislodged from the jaws and also provides a torque in both a clockwise and counterclockwise direction, depending on the orientation of the hinged member, for facilitating the initiation of the raising or lowering operation.

  • Patent number: 4833872
Abstract: Air spliced yarn and associated method and apparatus for forming the spliced yarn. The spliced yarn has the ends extending in a common direction laterally of the body of the yarn with the fiber components of the spliced ends of yarn being intimately entangled with each other and forming a commingled projection of entangled fiber components extending laterally from the body of the yarn. The spliced yarn is disclosed for connecting a running package of yarn to a reserve package of yarn as in a yarn creel feeding a bank of yarns to a carpet tufting machine. The apparatus comprises a hand held manually actuatable air valve for compressed air connected to a housing having a hollow wall. The housing has an open ended passageway therethrough for receiving side-by-side yarn ends facing in the same direction. A series of openings for entrance of compressed air into the passageway extend through the inner wall of the housing for effecting air entanglement of the ends of yarn positioned in the passageway.

  • Patent number: 4833795
Abstract: An outsole construction includes a forefoot cushion section in the forefoot region and a heel cushion section in the heel region, each surrounded by a stabilizing platform section. The cushion sections include a plurality of resilient, hollow ribs which extend at least slightly below the bottom surface of the platform section when not in contact with the ground. The platform section is preferably made of a harder material than the cushion sections to achieve a desired compromise between stability and cushioning. A pivot surface can be located in the ball portion of the forefoot region to facilitate pivoting as the foot contacts the ground. The pivot surface defines a cushioning air pocket between the outsole and the midsole.

  • Patent number: 4829759
Abstract: The yarn to be loosened is guided by slots (7;8); it is held on one side thereof and it is cut on the other side. Air is injected by a nozzle (13) for driving the cut end of the yarn into a channel (1), between the bottom (11) of this channel and the longitudinal edge of an adjacent flexible leaf (10) which is vibrated simultaneously at several hundreds of Hz. The air can escape sidewise through a longitudinal opening (4) of channel (1) and entrains the yarn from one side to the other side of the leaf (10) and imparts to this yarn alternatively inverted twists. A further action of the leaf (10) is to pulse the air in the channel and therefore to subject the yarn to intermittently applied pulls.
