  • Patent number: 7195234
Abstract: A gas spring suspension system that adjusts the spring rate as the travel is adjusted. The suspension system includes a frame, a pressure chamber, a compression piston assembly, an adjustment assembly, a piston tube, and a shaft. The piston tube is operatively connected to the adjustment assembly and the compression piston assembly, and the compression piston assembly is configured to slidably displace along the piston tube to change the pressure in the pressure chamber. The adjustment assembly is associated with the frame and is operable to axially position the piston tube and, in turn the compression piston assembly, relative to the frame to adjust the travel of the suspension system. The shaft is configured to be variably positionable within the pressure chamber in response to axial displacement of the piston tube and the compression piston assembly by the adjustment assembly, the variable positioning of the shaft within the pressure chamber changing the pressure therein.

  • Patent number: 7156215
Abstract: A quick change shock absorber for providing for the quick and easy removal of a shock absorber from a fixture of an industrial machine. The quick change shock absorber provides a housing having a smooth, outer bore and a blind bore adaptable to hold a fluid. A piston is slidably disposed within the bore of the housing and is engageable with a driver for movement between an extended position, wherein the piston has a portion extending outwardly from the housing, and a retracted position, wherein the piston is disposed within the housing. The outer periphery is receivable by the fixture which has a bore for complementarily receiving the outer periphery of the housing. A rubber retaining ring seated within a recess of the housing of the shock absorber creates a level of friction between the outer periphery of the housing and the fixture that constitutes a snug fit for quick change removal and replacement of the housing from the fixture.

  • Patent number: 7040722
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for redundantly estimating, i.e. by various sub-methods, the risk of lateral overturn of a vehicle. One sub-method involves estimating the risk of overturn according to the actual braking state of the vehicle—braking or strong braking, or not braking or slight braking—by monitoring the rotational speed behavior of the wheels on the inside of the turn. Another sub-method involves pre-calculating the rolling motion of the vehicle about the longitudinal axis thereof over a short time span of, for example, 0.5 s to 1.5 s on the basis of instantaneous movement parameters and assessing the risk of overturn on the basis of the anticipated rolling motion.

  • Patent number: 7011379
Abstract: A control circuit for a controllable electric solenoid valve of a brake system of a motor vehicle is described, in which the actual values of a controlled variable (f(t)), e.g., the vehicle deceleration, a wheel slip, a driving speed, an angle of rotation or the like are returned to a predetermined tolerance band. The actual value of the controlled variable is measured continuously and compared with the predetermined tolerance band, which is stored in an EEPROM, for example. If the actual value of the controlled variable leaves the predetermined tolerance band (22), a correction device (15) intervenes and returns the actual value to the predetermined tolerance band by increasing or decreasing the trigger current for the solenoid valve (1).
