  • Patent number: 7537628
Abstract: Three exhaust trap units are arranged in series in an exhaust trap device for trapping substances solidified from exhaust gas and exhaust gas paths are formed inside the exhaust trap units. One or more collision plates are placed in each trap unit. The collision plates in each of the two upstream side exhaust trap units are arranged such that a space extending in the axial direction of the exhaust path is present therein without being blocked by any of the collision plates. The collision plates in the downstream side exhaust trap unit are arranged such that such a space is not present. Uneven distribution of the amount of accumulation of solidified substances is suppressed without performing complex control, and outflow of the solidified components to the downstream side of the exhaust trap device can be reliably reduced.

  • Patent number: 7537627
Abstract: A gas liquid separator adapted to be inserted into a conduit is disclosed. The gas-liquid separator includes downward sloping vanes and optionally, one or more return channels. The vanes may have an opening along the length thereof, and a bottom lip to channel accumulated liquid to the conduit wall or to sloped return channels. If the conduit is not sloped such that the captured droplets are returned to the originating vessel, sloped return channel/channels are used to return the captured droplets to the vessel from which the gas stream originated. With a central return channel, the vanes can be attached directly to the channel with the resulting assembly having a fishbone shape. When a central return channel is not used, the vanes can be attached to a central plate or spine with the resulting spine-vanes assembly again having a fishbone shape. The separation enhancers can be used in a variety of conduit configurations.

  • Patent number: 7534286
Abstract: Systems and methods for cooling a chromatographic column is disclosed generally, comprising heating a chromatographic column, supplying fluid into the column via the inlet end of the column at an inlet pressure, decreasing the temperature of the column, thereby causing the fluid in the column to contract, and controlling the fluid in the column such that the rate at which the fluid in the column contracts does not exceed the flow rate of the fluid supplied to the column. In certain embodiments, the rate of change of the volume of the fluid in the column as the column temperature decreases is modeled, and the rate of contraction of the gas in the column is estimated therefrom. In some embodiments, the column temperature and/or inlet pressure are controlled by a programmable chromatographic oven.

  • Patent number: 7527666
Abstract: A honeycomb body includes an inlet end side and an outlet end side. Metal sheets are wound, intertwined and/or layered into a multiplicity of sheet metal layers being at least partially structured to form channels leading from the inlet end side to the outlet end side. Edges of at least some of the sheet metal layers have cutouts formed therein at the inlet end side and/or the outlet end side, resulting in a fissured structure of the inlet end side and/or the outlet end side. As a result, only the smooth metal sheets or only the structured metal sheets or both can be provided with the cutouts. Additionally, at least some of the metal sheets can be made of a porous material, in particular compressed metal fibers. • Patent number: 7527673
Abstract: A polyimide MMC membrane useful for the production of oxygen-enriched air or nitrogen-enriched-air, for the separation of carbon dioxide from hydrocarbons or nitrogen, and the separation of helium or hydrogen from various streams. Membranes of polyimide polymers, such as polyimide polymers sold under the tradename P-84, are mixed with molecular sieve materials, such as SSZ-13, to make MMC membranes. The MMC membranes of the invention provide improved membrane performance compared to polymer only membranes, particularly when used to form asymmetric film membranes or hollow fiber membranes. The MMC films exhibit consistent permeation performance as dense film or asymmetric membranes, and do not interact with components of the process streams, such as organic solvents. The membranes of the invention exhibit particularly surprisingly good selectivity for the fluids of interest.
