  • Patent number: 7623995
Abstract: This invention is a method of extracting a semiconductor device compact model by using knowledge of the equations used inside the compact model. Starting by fitting a small subset of the model parameters, the remaining model parameters are fitted and as each new subset of model parameters are fitted, the previously fitted model parameters are adjusted to compensate for the changes introduced due to the currently optimized parameters. This invention details the method of making these adjustments.

  • Patent number: 7469200
Abstract: A method has been invented for predicting the build-up of heat, material aging, and subsequent belt separation failure in rolling steel-belted pneumatic tires (20). The procedure employs finite element analysis and a new fatigue crack propagation model that takes output generated by the finite element model to predict distance and time to belt separation in the tire. The finite element model uses input information on tire load, speed and inflation pressure (12) to calculate the temperature and energy release rate at the corresponding tips of the fatigue crack to generate four-dimensional response surfaces of crack-tip energy release rate as a function of crack length, crack-tip circumferential angular position, and crack-tip temperature. The fatigue crack propagation model samples the response surface and is numerically integrated to predict distance and/or time to belt separation failure (30).

  • Patent number: 7373288
Abstract: A method for simulating compositional and/or multiphase transfers between the porous matrix and the fractures of a fractured multilayer porous medium, which are respectively saturated by a distinct liquid phase and gas phase. The method comprises constructing a geologic model representative of the networks of natural fractures of the medium and converting this geologic model into an equivalent double porosity model. Diffusion of the gas phase between the fractures and the matrix is modelled considering that a gas-liquid front exhibiting a quasi-static equilibrium at the interfaces is established from an initial time and progresses at a velocity controlled by the diffusion transfers within each phase. The transfers involve the difference between the concentration within the phase and the concentration of equilibrium between the two phases, as well as a variable exchange distance expressed as a function of the matrix saturation.

  • Patent number: 7369978
Abstract: A method of loading material into a dump body of a truck using a loading bucket whose volumetric capacity is approximately ? or more than that of the dump body is provided. The dump body having side walls that are spaced relatively wider than conventional dump bodies. The loading bucket having a gate at a lower end thereof that when free swings open and causes the material contained in the loading bucket to drop into the dump body. The method including the steps of filling the loading bucket with an amount of earthen material and centering the loading bucket over the dump body. The bucket is then lowered to a position that: (1) substantially minimizes the clearance between the floor of the dump body and the swinging gate in its freed position; (2) allows the swinging gate to clear the side walls of the dump body as it swings through an arc after it is freed, and (3) allows the material to be discharged substantially in the center of the dump body.

  • Patent number: 7366646
Abstract: A system operates to receive status messages from banking machines operating in a network. The messages are received by an event management system operating at least one computer. The computer is in operative connection with a data store. The data store includes information representative of the banking machines in the network, status messages generated by the banking machines and actions to be taken including entities to be notified of conditions which cause status messages to be sent by the various banking machines. A device status processing program in the computer resolves an action to be taken responsive to the status message. Responsive to the action resolved by the device status processing program the computer causes a notification message to be dispatched by a multimedia reporter to an entity who is to be notified of the condition at the banking machine which caused the status message.

  • Patent number: 7359842
Abstract: A case base generator divides an input space of history data into unit input spaces according to a desired output allowable error, and creates a representative case from the history data arranged in the unit input spaces, thereby generating a case base. A case retrieving section of a soft sensor retrieves a case corresponding to new input data from the case base. An output estimating section calculates and outputs estimated output data corresponding to the new input data on the basis of the output data on the retrieved case. An output evaluating section calculates and outputs an estimation error in the estimated output data on the basis of the topological distance between the new input data and the retrieved case. A function evaluating section evaluates the soft sensor on the basis of the estimation error, the estimated output data, and true output data.

  • Patent number: 7356451
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for handling timing constraints or assertions for timing model extraction. One disclosed approach for assertion handling is by automatically preserving the integrity of original assertions by retaining existing pins or creating new internal pins. The assertions are viewed as part of the model, and a set of new assertions are generated automatically as part of the timing model extraction process and can be stored as part of the model. Assertions can be associated with input ports, output ports, internal pins, or hierarchical pins and can even span multiple blocks. This disclosed approach allows for application of assertions associated with timing models when the model is instantiated and detachment of assertions when the model is de-instantiated, and thus removes one of main problems associated with timing models.

  • Patent number: 7346483
Abstract: To perform a simulation, a design can be divided into “blocks” described by models. To ensure that data is efficiently transferred from an source model to a destination model, a dynamic first-in first-out (FIFO) can be placed between these models. The initial size of the dynamic FIFO can be set to a relatively small value. To prevent deadlock, the size of the FIFO can be automatically increased in size by increments. In this manner, the memory resources of the FIFO can be tightly controlled. Advantageously, the size of the optimized dynamic FIFO can be used as the desired size of the FIFO implemented in silicon, thereby also ensuring efficient use of silicon resources.

  • Patent number: 7319947
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing distributed simulation is presented. According to an embodiment of the present invention, simulators are interfaced to a simulation backplane via simulator-dependent interfaces (SDI's). The simulators exchange messages via the simulation backplane and the SDI's. The SDI's convert the exchanged messages between a data format supported by the backplane and a data format supported by the simulator to which the interface is connected. By interfacing the simulators with the backplane via SDI's, the validation environment may be changed without reconfiguring the backplane.

  • Patent number: 7308397
Abstract: A method for controlling and emulating the functional and logical behaviors of an array of storage devices is established by loading a software module to an array controller board. The software module is integrated into the array controller subsystem manager by providing the necessary parameters required to insert the device and can control the inbound and outbound activities (commands, data, and status packages) regardless of the type, interface, and protocol of the disk/tape device. This aspect of the method allows the user to control the drive state transition and inject errors on the inbound and outbound drive traffics. Also, the method of this invention allows the drive module to recover in case of an array controller failure and to be removed from a list of devices like a regular drive.
