Patent number: 4843959Abstract: Sheets or a web of bank note imprints are advanced in single file through an indexing station where a unique identifying index is applied to each imprint. The indexed imprints are stacked as a pile of strips, downstream of the indexing station, and the pile of strips cut into piles of individual indexed bank notes.Strips containing imprints with printing blemishes or incorrect indexes are rejected before reaching the stacking station. Computer-control of the indexing units in the indexing station maintains an unbroken sequence of indexes on the imprints advanced to the stacking station despite the presence of reject strips.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1988Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Assignee: Komori Currency Technology UK Ltd.Inventor: Michael R. Patent number: 4823694Abstract: In order to accommodate a relatively large number of paper storage reels (11-17) with diameters of relatively large size in correspondence with a relatively large paper reservoir in a space of relatively small dimensions, storage reels (12-15) are also arranged in side-by-side relationship, i.e. laterally offset with respect to the paper feed slots (21-27) of the printer (20). The path segments of the paper webs (2-5) extending in this case in part skewed with respect to the paper feeding direction of the printer are made possible by rerouting members (52/62, 53/63, 54/64, 55/65, 42-45) at which the paper webs are guided on a rerouting path extending along part of a helical winding.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1988Date of Patent: April 25, 1989Assignee: Autelca AG.Inventor: Fritz Siegenthaler

Patent number: 4719855Abstract: Web treatment apparatus, such as a rotary die cutting machine, is provided with a die cylinder position encoder for generating pulses as the die cylinder rotates, feed roll position encoder for generating pulses as the feed rolls rotate; voltage dependent stored program driven servo drive for rotating the feed rolls; pull-off rolls for withdrawing web material from a supply roll and maintaining a storage loop thereof leading to the feed rolls; and a microprocessor based system including manually settable input for inputting the die length and length of pullback desired between cutting cycles. A position controller monitors die cutter speed and position from the die cylinder position encoder and provides voltage signals to the feed roll servo drive dependent upon the inputted data to provide velocity and acceleration profile for the feed rolls appropriate to the entered die length. It also provides a voltage signal to the pull-off roll drive to initialize the rate of input of web to the storage loop.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1986Date of Patent: January 19, 1988Assignee: Sonoco Products CompanyInventors: David C. Patent number: 4600185Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for paper feeding machines for detecting the presence of a load of paper to be fed, and which actuates the feeder to cause paper to be advanced for folding or other operations when no load is detected, and which apparatus includes a scanning head to detect the presence of a load of paper, and electrical circuitry to provide emission signals to the scanning head, compare received signals at the scanning head and, if the signals match, to open a relay and cause the feeder to stop moving a load of paper to position for picking off sheets and further operations such as folding until no load is detected and feeding is resumed.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1984Date of Patent: July 15, 1986Inventor: Richard J. Moll

Patent number: 4597204Abstract: A manual snow pusher comprises a resilient rubber blade connected along the base of a hood-like snow diverting member of galvanized metal plate. An elongate handle is pivotally attached to a latch plate at the back of the snow diverting member, allowing the angle of the handle relative to the length of the blade to be adjusted. The handle has a spring loaded pin which can be engaged in any one of a series of holes formed around the arcuate periphery of the latch plate in order to releasably secure the handle in a selected angular position.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1985Date of Patent: July 1, 1986Inventor: Donald J. Heiden

Patent number: 4595187Abstract: A low cost, on-line saddle stapler accessory for preparing long edge fed booklets, receives side registered copies from a copier, and introduces a crease centrally of the copies. The copies are aided into a roof-shaped compiler tray and registered at their lead edges. When a set has been compiled, a first saddle staple is made and the set is passed on to a second position, registered and stapled a second time. Afterwards, the now saddle stapled booklet is forwarded to a stacking tray.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1985Date of Patent: June 17, 1986Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventor: Henry T. Bober

Patent number: 4576370Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for automatically tipping closely incidental mail to magazines or the like. A plurality of magazines are sequentially fed from a source location to a town sort stacking location. A labelling station and an envelope tipping station are disposed intermediate the source and town sort location. Presorted closely incidental mail pieces are provided and scanned for zip code information. Labels are provided having subscriber information including name, address, zip code and mail piece attachment indicia indicating whether that subscriber is to receive a mail piece. Each label is scanned. If a label scanned does not include mail piece attachment indicia indicating that subscriber is to receive a mail piece, that label is fixed to the corresponding, next magazine being fed from the source location to the town sort stack location.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: Harris Graphics CorporationInventor: Dale H. Patent number: 4361086Abstract: The printer is included in an apparatus for depositing valuables in envelopes, which are conveyed to a depositor at a constant speed. The printer includes a type wheel inked by a removable inking roller and selectively rotatable by a stepping motor, each time from the angular position of the previous printed character.A guiding roller normally holds the envelope distanced from the type wheel and is removed at a constant rate for causing the envelope to be printed. In the interval between two subsequent character printing operations the envelope is advanced one letter space, whereas the type wheel has time to be rotated at least one revolution.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1981Date of Patent: November 30, 1982Assignee: Ing.
