  • Patent number: 4789092
Abstract: A portable apparatus is provided with an operating head slidably mounted on a guide plate for successively fastening stirrup-links on the end of a conveyor belt via staples. A movable die within the operating head for clinching the staple ends has a first portion located opposite to the staple-inserting punch and provided with grooves for initial clinching of the staple ends. A second portion of the die is provided with grooves for final clinching of the staple ends of the following stirrup-link which have already been subjected to initial clinching. A second punch penetrates into an opening of the staple-guiding plate in order to arrest the operating head in each predetermined position and to serve as an anvil for bearing against the head of each staple at the time of final clinching. The second punch is actuated by a lever which also actuates the stepping-motion ratchet mechanism while another lever controls the operation of the staple-inserting punch and the operation of the die.

  • Patent number: 4785695
Abstract: The excess covering material is trimmed from a workpiece using a blade assembly having side by side blade segments with cutting edges aligned with the contour to be cut. A rubber roller applies a longitudinal cutting force to the blade segments in sequential fashion by rolling across the blade segments ends opposite the cutting ends. The blade segments are returned to the noncutting position by a tension wire threaded through a notch in the shaft of each of the blade segments. Cutting pressure is adequate to cut through at least three layers of covering material without scoring the substrate. The rubber roller provides ceertain resiliency which helps control the cutting pressure.

  • Patent number: 4784029
Abstract: A sawing method involving in one direction continuously driven saw blades (1, 2) or saw wheels, according to which two saw blades (1, 2) or saw wheels are arranged in an adjacent position to each other, with associated saw teeths extending in an opposed relationship to each other. The saw blades (1, 2) or the saw wheels are thereafter caused to perform a continuous movement in opposite directions to each other in the operative direction for each saw blade (1, 2) or saw wheel, whereby same in a common and co-acting operation take up a saw cut in a workpiece. In order to maintain the saw teeths of the saw blades (1, 2) or the saw wheels separated from each other during a sawing operation, a pneumatical or hydraulical medium under pressure is advantageously supplied against the adjacently located surfaces of the saw blades (1, 2) or the saw wheels during the sawing operation.

  • Patent number: 4782592
Abstract: An electric hair clipper is disclosed which has a plurality of spaced cutting teeth. With this clipper, hair strands may be cut by passing the hair clipper over the hair in a series of swift, flowing strokes. The clipper may be passed over the hair at the outer periphery of the hair, or it may be passed over the hair within the periphery, to change the hair style. The hair clipper may also be used to thin or layer hair. In one such method of thinning or layering hair, the operator passes a comb through the hair in a swift stroke, creating a trough in the hair behind the comb. The hair clipper follows the comb in the trough, cutting hair strands which are displaced by the comb as the hair returns to its natural position. If desired, the clipper can be passed through the hair at an angle away from the scalp, so that the hair strands are cut different lengths.
