  • Patent number: 4742616
Abstract: A device for cutting open a discharge nozzle on a capsule containing a plastic mastic has a pair of elongated levers pivotally connected together adjacent first ends of the levers so that the levers are pivotally movable between an open position and a cutting position. One lever mounts a cutter and the other lever has a support bore aligned with the cutter in the cutting position. In the open position a discharge nozzle is inserted through the support bore extending toward the one lever and then the levers are pressed at the second ends into the cutting position whereby the cutter at least partially severs the nozzle. If necessary, the cut can be completed by rotating the device about the previously cut part of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4742743
Abstract: An accessory for use in conjunction with a radial saw for preventing buildup of sawdust on a main table adjacent a fence of said radial saw, the accessory table includes a table member having an upper and a lower surface. The table member comprising a grid structure having a plurality of apertures allowing communication from the upper to the lower surface. The apertures are situated between an array of rigid supporting beam-like members. The apertures are adequately large to permit easy passage of sawdust therethrough and the supporting members make up a very small portion of the upper surface of the table member so that accumulation of sawdust on the upper surface is minimized. Preferably, the supporting members are tapered near the upper surface so that upper surface area is minimized. The supporting members are made of plastic or other readily sawable material.

Abstract: An apparatus for notching the back of a book. The apparatus includes a conveyor for moving the book along a conveyor path with the back of the book exposed. A cutter is provided for forming notches in the back of the book. A cutter support disc supports the cutter adjacent the conveyor path and supports the cutter for movement along a path extending transverse to the conveyor path. A first drive is connected with the cutter support dics for moving the cutter along a path extending transverse to the conveyor path. The first drive is operable in a timed relationship with the conveyor to form notches in the back of the book. A second drive is connected with the cutter for moving the cutter relative to the cutter support disc to form notches in the back of the book. The second drive is operable independent of the first drive to maintain the cutter at a speed sufficient to form notches in the back of the book regardless of the speed of movement of the cutter support disc.

  • Patent number: 4741106
Abstract: A folding pocket knife substantially including a handle, a blade retaining lever and a blade. The blade is pivotally held in the handle wherein the engagement between a holding lever and the base of the blade, which keeps the blade out of the handle, is released by depressing the press area of the lever. The press area of the lever is covered with soft and pliable material that can be moved downward together with the press area so that the disengagement between the retaining lever and the blade can be made without pain to the finger. The whole body of the handle is covered with the soft and pliable material, but the handle may be formed with hard material except the portion over the press area so that only this portion is covered with the soft and pliable material.
