  • Patent number: 10395077
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for a near-field communication (NFC) system for use with mobile computing device. In an embodiment, an RFID reader device is configured for operation with a smart phone using the audio (headphone) port, and which is entirely powered and controlled by the mobile computing device through the audio port. A specially tuned charge pump ladder is used for powering the RFID reader device over a TRRS connection with the mobile computing device, without requiring an internal power source, such as a battery, in the RFID reader device. In an embodiment, an app running on the mobile computing device includes functionality for providing power and data channels over the TRRS port to the RFID reader device.

  • Patent number: 10347092
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to status indicator devices having a first releasably connectable electrical interface (RCEI) and second RCEI defining an axis from which an illumination module illuminates in substantially all radial directions with respect to the axis. In an illustrative example, an indicator device may include an illumination module and a detection module between the first RCEI and the second RCEI. An electrically conductive path along the axis may connect the first RCEI and the second RCEI. The detection module may be configured such that when the first RCEI receives a signal, the detection module may cause, in accordance with predetermined signal criteria, the illumination module to illuminate. In some examples, the status indicator may advantageously provide instantaneous remote visual indication of the predetermined signal criteria from substantially any viewing angle and at any point along a cable.

  • Patent number: 10333592
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for interference avoidance based on signal alignment for multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) with orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or OFDM access (OFDMA). The embodiments include a signal alignment scheme using both spatial and frequency dimensions. The scheme includes an existing link between an existing transmitter and an existing receiver, and a new link between a new transmitter and a new receiver. The new transmitter determines combinations of space dimensions and frequency dimensions unused in transmission on an existing link, and assigns signals for transmission on the new link at one or more of the unused combinations of space dimensions and frequency dimensions. The existing receiver is further configured to reallocate its power to release, using a greedy search algorithm, a small eigenvalue algorithm, or a best throughput algorithm, a null space of some space dimensions to the new transmitter.

  • Patent number: 10304317
Abstract: Real estate properties can have lockboxes that contain keys for gaining property access. The lockboxes can record information about each real estate agent who showed a property and can wirelessly transmit that information for storage in a database. The information can include the agent's identity, an identifier of the lockbox or property, and an access time, for example. The agent can carry a personal emergency response system (PERS) device so that the agent can send out a wireless emergency alert if the agent feels threatened or otherwise experiences an emergency situation. Upon receipt of such a wireless emergency alert, a remote system can access the database to determine one or more properties that the agent has visited. Thus, the system can track the agent and determine a location of the emergency situation.

  • Patent number: 10304307
Abstract: The invention relates to a sensor for detecting objects in a monitoring area. The sensor has a display unit that is comprised of a series of lamps with a linear arrangement of lamps. The series of lamps is arranged around an axis of rotation running parallel to its longitudinal axis and rotates at a specific rotary speed. The series of lamps is controlled via a control unit in such a way that the columns of a matrix-type display field to be presented at a clock rate of the display field are individually output one after the other to the series of lamps and displayed with it. The clock rate is adapted to the rotary speed in such a way that these displays complement one another to form a standing image of the display field. The sensor is a safety sensor.

  • Patent number: 10303260
Abstract: A switch device includes a control portion that performs brightness adjustment control. Under the brightness adjustment control, a detection portion acquires capacitance of several electrode portions. The control portion allows a brightness adjustment portion to increase brightness of design portions corresponding to all the electrode portions whose capacitance exceeds an approach determination threshold value so that the increased brightness is higher than original brightness. The control portion maintains brightness control by the brightness adjustment portion when the capacitance exceeds the approach determination threshold value and is lower than a switch-on determination threshold value. When the capacitance exceeds a predetermined switch-on determination threshold value, the control portion turns on a switch portion corresponding to the electrode portion to operate an instrument, and subsequently returns the brightness by the brightness adjustment portion to the original brightness.

  • Patent number: 10277255
Abstract: A channel equalizer includes a first transformer, an estimator, an average calculator, a second transformer, a coefficient calculator, a compensator, and a third transformer. The first transformer converts normal data into frequency domain data, where a known data sequence is periodically repeated in the normal data. The estimator estimates channel impulse responses (CIR) during known data intervals adjacent to each normal data block. The average calculator calculates an average value of the CIRs. The second transformer converts the average value into frequency domain data. The coefficient calculator calculates equalization coefficients using the average value, and the compensator compensates channel distortion of each normal data block using the coefficients. The third transformer converts the compensated data block into time domain data.
