  • Patent number: 6023956
Abstract: An apparatus (1) serves to bend a hollow section (2) with which a spacer frame for insulating glass sheets is to be manufactured. For this purpose, the hollow section (2) can already be filled with drying agent during bending or, however, still be empty. The bending apparatus also has, in addition to a bending tool (11) and an abutment (13), a hold-down clamp (17) for impinging upon a side band (6) and/or a flange (10) whose cross section continues internally, and parallel thereto a support (16), so that the external proportions of the hollow section (2) remain precisely preserved even in the bending area (4). In order to support thereby the bending motion and the deformation, as well as the flow of the material of the hollow section (2) and its side bands (6)/flanges (10), the hold-down clamp (17) is subdivided and has an element (171) co-rotatable with the bending motion in the bending direction, which supports the change of direction of the side band (6)/flange (10) during the bending operation.

  • Patent number: 6014850
Abstract: A molded one-piece flexible plastic strip handle includes a first wall at one end of the strip that extends from the mid-portion of the strip, a second wall attached by one end to the first wall forming a U with the first wall having its apex below the plane of the mid-portion, and a tongue that extends from the apex toward the second end of the strip and makes an acute angle with the first wall. An opening in the first wall is configured to receive the tongue when it is bent toward the opening by inserting the second wall and first wall in a predetermined opening in a container wall.

  • Patent number: 5992199
Abstract: A modular knurling tool is provided having a tool shank defining a first dove-tail connector and having at least one adjustment drive recess. Any selected one of a number of different knurling heads are adjustably connected to the tool shank by a second dove-tail connector, such that with the tool shank mounted in the tool support of a metal working machine, the knurling head is linearly adjustable along an axis that is oriented in normal relation with the longitudinal axis of the tool shank and in normal relation with the axis of the rotating work piece. A threaded adjustment member is positioned with a circular thrust element thereof located in rotatable relation within the adjustment drive recess so that rotation of the threaded adjustment will impart linear adjustment movement to the knurling head relative to the tool shank.

  • Patent number: 5697203
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there can be mass produced long-term preservable lunches in a short period of time, because a series of such operations as formation, cleaning, sterilizing, dishing-up, sealing and filling the lunch box with an inert gas are carried out consistently by virtue of the production unit of lunches of the present invention. Further, because the lunches are allowed to pass through successively the gas chambers filled with the inert gas, no insufficient filling of the lunches with the inert gas will occur. Further, the lunch boxes can individually be filled with the inert gas when each lunch box is provided with a sealing valve and filled with the inert gas by inserting an inert gas filling tube into said lunch box through the sealing valve.

  • Patent number: 5687604
Abstract: An improved cooling system is provided in a piercing mandrel used in extruding tubular material made of metals having extruding temperatures above the annealing temperature of H13 tool steel such as brass, copper and the like. The piercing mandrel has a replaceable tip fitted on the end of the stem portion for the mandrel. A cooling channel system is provided at the distal end of the stem and comprises a disperser for dispersing cooling fluid in equi-distant, multi-radial directions as the cooling fluid flows out of the stem distal end. An annular channel is provided at the perimeter of the mating faces of the bore in the tip and the stem distal end and which is in communication with the disperser to direct radially cooling fluid annularly of the perimeter of the mating faces at the stem distal end. The cooling channel system further comprises about the perimeter of the stem distal end a plurality of equi-distant, longitudinally directed channels which are in communication with the annular channel.

  • Patent number: 5564256
Abstract: A wrapping apparatus having a springable base with attached arms which support a wrapping material. The spaced apart arms extend upward and outward from the perimeter of the springable base, which is flexible to assume an arched posture and a flat posture. In response to downward pressure on a central area of the springable base, the springable base snaps from the arched posture into the flat posture. When the springable base is in the arched posture, the arms and wrapping material are in an open position to receive an item to be wrapped. The arms and wrapping material move into a closed position when the springable base assumes the flat posture. The wrapping apparatus may be constructed with or without an upper skirt of wrapping material. The wrapping material may be inside the arms, outside the arms or may envelope the arms.

  • Patent number: 5561963
Abstract: An apparatus for preparing sets of documents comprises a document conveyor, a shunting station, a folding station, and a controller. A scanner determines the length of the conveyed documents in a set or the space between successive documents sets. The control acts responsive to the determined length or space, and adjusts the cycle speed of the apparatus so that the documents sets are conveyed with a minimum of intervening space without colliding. The invention also includes a method for controlling the apparatus of the invention.

  • Patent number: 5499489
Abstract: A machine for making bundles (3) of sheets (2), in particular signatures, wrapped by means of a wrapping machine (15), including: a first pusher (7) which moves said bundles (3) in the direction (A) against a stop (10); means (17, 20) suitable to keep the bundle (3) pushed against the stop (10) when the first pusher (7) moves away from the bundle (3) to return in the rear position; and a second pusher (13) which moves the bundle (3) in the direction (B) perpendicular to the groove (16) in which the wrapper of the wrapping machine (15) arranged side by side with the machine is housed.
