  • Patent number: 5813343
Abstract: A printing media roll mounting mechanism including a frame defining a roll compartment for accommodating a printing media roll. First and second roll holders are mounted in the compartment in axial alignment substantially perpendicular to the web path for concurrent oppositely directed linear movement. The first and second roll holders are spring urged toward one another but can be moved apart to receive different width media rolls therebetween. When the first roll holder is moved outwardly, e.g., to the right, against the spring urging, the second roll holder will also move outwardly to the left. The two roll holders are spring urged toward each other to respectively engage opposite ends of a media roll core placed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5813344
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for removing an image forming substance such as toner from an image holding member such as a sheet of transfer paper, a liquid providing unit is constructed by plural coating devices such as three coating devices each having a coating roller, a restricting roller and a liquid container for liquid storage. The coating devices are arranged along a conveying path of the transfer paper sheet. A liquid is provided to the transfer paper sheet from both face sides thereof by using a mist generator, etc. in the liquid providing unit. The coating and restricting rollers are arranged such that no coating and restricting rollers come in contact with the transfer paper sheet so as not to restrict the transfer paper sheet. A surface of each of the coating and restricting rollers is desirably constructed such that this surface is hydrophilic. Another toner removing apparatus is also shown. A drive roller device for supporting an offset belt for conveying the transfer paper sheet is also shown.

  • Patent number: 5813773
Abstract: Two column-shaped ribs are disposed between a ribbon spool and an inner wall of a lower case in a cassette case. When a film tape is an ink-receiving type, which needs an ink ribbon, a pathway traveling to the outside of the ribs is selected so that the film tape traveling through the case can be reliably prevented from contacting the ink ribbon wound around the ribbon spool. On the contrary, when the film tape is a heat-sensitive type, wherein printing is performed by a thermal head directly heating the film tape, a pathway which travels between the ribs is selected so that the tape can be prevented from being drawn back when the tape is flexible like paper.

  • Patent number: 5813771
Abstract: A method is described for calibrating a printer and/or a scanner so that information can be printed at a desired location with respect to a sheet, the method comprising: storing a first set of markings as a first image in digital form; printing, using a printer to be calibrated, the first image on a sheet to form a printed sheet; scanning the printed sheet to generate a second image stored in digital form; comparing the first image and the second image, or an image derived from the second image, to determine a first transformation which maps the first set of markings in the second image, or the image derived from the second image, onto the first set of markings on the first image; storing parameters of the first transformation for subsequent use by applying the first transformation to information to be printed at the desired location. Using this method the bias transformations associated with a printer and/or a scanner can be accurately measured and stored for future use in printing.

  • Patent number: 5809937
Abstract: A farrowing crate is disclosed. The farrowing crate includes an end support and an opposed end support. Back and front portions extend therebetween. Back and front portions includes top and bottom rails and a plurality of bowed bars extending therebetween. Back and front portions include an arcuate section and a straight longitudinal section. The curvature of the bowed bars vary along the length of the back and front portions. The curvature of bowed bars increases as they approach the arcuate section. The curvature of bowed bars decreases as they approach support members. The farrowing crate of the present invention provides enough space for the sow to turn around 360.degree., this allows the sow to visually monitor her piglets in all directions and allows her to change posture more easily. The farrowing crate provides adequate room for the sow to stand and lie down comfortably when she is aligned along the diagonal.

  • Patent number: 5809876
Abstract: An imprinting system having a print head with a plurality of type for transferring ink from an inked ribbon onto a substrate. A typeholder having an open ended cavity defined by side walls for retaining the plurality of type, wherein the typeholder is removably disposeable in a recess of the print head. At least one side wall portion of the cavity is removably coupleable to the typeholder for permitting insertion and removal of the plurality of type into and from the cavity. And a resilient member protrudes into the cavity from at least one of the side walls, wherein the resilient member biases the plurality of type toward one of other the side walls to prevent shifting of the type in the cavity. A resilient member urges a button protruding from an outer surface of the typeholder into contact with the recess of the print head, and a magnetized striker plate disposed on another outer surface of the typeholder cooperates to securely retain the typeholder in the recess of the print head.
