The display device emits light for images, the focusing structure on the light path includes a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer, and a first liquid crystal layer between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer, these two electrode layers receiving different voltages. The first liquid crystal layer is configured to converge the image light as necessary for the viewer and enlarge images as desired by the viewer. The image light after being focused displays a virtual reality image.

When the light control pixel is in the first state, external ambient light that has passed through the first polarizer does not change polarization state after passing through the light control pixel. When the light control pixel is in the second state, external ambient light that has passed through the first polarizer is adjusted, after passing through the light control pixel, to be linearly polarized light perpendicular to the light transmission axis of the reflective polarizer.

A default orientation of a host material in the active liquid crystal layer may be in a dark state or in a clear state, when no electrical power is provided. A method and a memory storing instructions to execute the method for use of the above device are also provided.
