  • Patent number: 4071384
Abstract: There is described a method for road surface marking with tape material, including the steps of applying a thin layer of an essentially liquid hydrophilous wetting agent on said surface, of forming an essentially bituminous primer layer thereon, and then pressingly laying a prefabricated tape material on said primer layer, such being formed with an essentially thermoplastic composition containing at least 60 % by weight of solid thermoplastic substances fluidified for intimately contacting the road surface, capable of fastly solidify at least to 10.sup.3 - 10.sup.4 cP for receiving the tape material, then up to at least 10.sup.5 cP to provide a bond of the tape to said surface capable to resist to horizontal stress of at least 1.5 kg/cm within 30 seconds, and further harden at ambient temperature to resist to a stress of at least 3 kg/cm. There are also described devices for applying such composition and tape and for melting the said solid thermoplastic substances.

  • Patent number: 4070216
Abstract: A method of producing a bas-relief with a motif which varies with the light, characterized in that the original motif to be reproduced is divided into a grid. The intensity of the grey in each of the divisions of the grid is measured. A numerical value is assigned to each division. The numerical value represents an intensity of grey and corresponds to an element of the bas-relief. The elements of the bas-relief, in accordance with the way in which the grid is divided, are placed side by side in a manner such that the light rays simultaneously make surface shadow spots appear on each element of the bas-relief in accordance with the intensity of the grey of the original motif. The composition of the spots is seen by viewing the bas-relief from a distance and reproduces the original motif.

  • Patent number: 4067761
Abstract: The overlapping edges of a continuously formed tubular configuration of plastic web are fused together between a backup ring and a sealing roller continuously heated by hot air directed against the periphery of the roller. When the heated roller is pressed in sealing engagement against the overlapped edges of the moving film it is rotated due to the frictional engagement of the roller with the film. A portion of the hot air impinges on blades extending laterally from opposite sides of the roller to apply torque thereto and thereby keep the roller spinning whenever the roller is out of frictional engagement with the overlapped edges of the continuously advancing web. By keeping the roller spinning it is evenly heated and hot spots are not allowed to develop as they would if the roller stopped while hot air continued to impinge on it. Cooling air is applied to the sealed overlapping edges after the sealing operation has been performed.

  • Patent number: 4063977
Abstract: The edge of a cover is welded to the edge of a vessel by disposing a multi-section, separable welding tool therebetween so that substantially the entire vessel opening is uncovered. The edges are heated by the welding tool. Thereafter, the edges and tool are separated to allow the sections of the tool to be separated without passing across the vessel opening. Then the edges are joined together. The cover can include a depending lip which bears against an inside wall of the vessel during the heating, displacing and joining steps to maintain proper alignment between the cover and the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4061515
Abstract: The invention relates to the manufacturing of suspension insulators of the type comprising essentially a body made of a dielectric material, a metallic cap and rod sealed to said body. The method according to the invention is characterized in that during sealing of the rod in the inner cavity of the body and of the cap on the body head, said body rests on a supporting table and undergoes by vibropercussion a vertical vibrating motion superimposed on a tilting motion with a rotating axis of tilt, said supporting table remaining isolated from the vibrations during the whole sealing operation. Application in particular to the manufacturing of heavy insulators for electric power lines.

  • Patent number: 4061514
Abstract: Works of art made from strips of material, preferably wooden lath strips, are mass-produced by sawing the lath strips to the desired size of the art work, painting or staining the sawed pieces to the desired color or shade, dye-stamping the stained or cut strips to their final shape, assembling the shaped pieces into the final design or picture of the art work, and fixing, by nailing, stapling, or glueing, the assembled pieces to a suitable backing. Preferably, the same strips of material are used to form the frame and side supports for the final product.

  • Patent number: 4060437
Abstract: A panelling method comprises the steps of adhesively affixing a plurality of rectangular panels in quadrilateral abutting relationship. Adhesively backed inner stile members are affixed along vertical seams and have tabs at each end with locating notches for alignment with the seams. Adhesively backed inner rail members have tabs which enter and fit notches defined by the abutting tabs of the stile members, the rails thus being located and centered over the seams. Outer stile members are slightly narrower than the inner stile members and are adhesively bonded thereover, location of the stile members being facilitated by locating marks on the inner stile members. Outer rail members are similarly adhesively affixed to the inner rail members with the aid of locating marks. Small fillers are employed in both the inner and outer stile and rail member gaps.

  • Patent number: 4060436
Abstract: This invention relates to a garment pattern and more particularly to the markings thereon. It is a common practice to use pins or tailor tacks to place markings on the material underlying a garment pattern corresponding with specified markings on the pattern such as the matching points of the pattern and to indicate darts, pleats, button hole locations and the like. Pins damage the pattern and are time consuming to make. The improvement herein consists of using small self-adhesive marking members of different configurations to indicate markings on the pattern and to be positioned onto the material through appropriate apertures or openings formed in the pattern. These marking members are readily applied and removed and vary in configuration so that corresponding marking members are readily matched up in assembling the material to form a garment.
