  • Patent number: 5408212
Abstract: The present invention is a multi-mode combination alarm and locking apparatus for bicycles, motorcycles and the like. The case of the combination alarm and locking apparatus can be attached to a bicycle or the like by a hollow bracket which can detachably mounted to a tubular section of the bicycle frame. In the preferred embodiment the combination alarm and locking apparatus includes a U-bolt lock. In an alternative embodiment the combination alarm and locking apparatus can be used in conjunction with a U-bolt lock. The combination alarm and locking apparatus also has a cable lock which has an elongated flexible cable with a conductive core and is retained by a retractable spool. The spool is releasibly engaged with a releasible rachet mechanism which controls the retraction of the spool.

  • Patent number: 5253298
Abstract: A receiver for receiving a stereophonic signal with upper and lower sidebands carrying a modulating signal includes independent sideband circuitry for providing upper and lower sideband signals. Selector circuitry responds to the level of audible noise in each of the upper and lower sideband signals for selecting that one of the sideband signals having a lower level of audible noise relative to the other. An ISB highpass filter filters the latter sideband signal to provide a highpass filtered sideband signal. Stereo detector circuitry provides left and right stereophonic audio signals. At least one audio lowpass filter filters the left and right stereophonic signals to provide corresponding lowpass filtered left and right stereophonic audio signals. At least one signal combiner combines the highpass filtered sideband signal with each of the lowpass filtered left and right stereophonic audio signals to provide corresponding composite left and right audio signals.

  • Patent number: 5103322
Abstract: A scanner is operative with an imaging system for inducing a mechanical movement of a subject during an optical scanning of the subject to provide an image of the subject. The subject which is in the shape of a card is advanced along a travel path past an optical viewing site by means of a drum, the scanner including a first roller and a second roller which urge the subject against the drum. Initially, the first roller is located between the viewing site and the entry port for receipt of the subject in a first nip between the first roller and the drum. The second roller is positioned fixed on the opposite side of the viewing site. The first roller is supported by an arm which swings about a rotational axis of the drum to vary the spacing between the two rollers.
