Abstract: Augmented reality techniques are employed to improve emergency response and related tasks based upon data gathered from wireless monitoring of emergency equipment.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for estimating whether or not a wireless terminal is in a geographic zone. The illustrative embodiment employs a pattern classifier that is trained on traits of electromagnetic signals at various locations. A computer-executable program is then generated based on the trained pattern classifier, and the program is installed and executed on a subscribed identity module of the terminal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for downloading a subscription from an operator to a UICC embedded in a terminal. The method includes transmitting from the terminal, to a platform, an identifier and a request for downloading the subscription; verifying in the platform that the terminal is authorized to download the subscription by verifying the rights of the terminal in accordance with its identifier; and downloading the subscription to the UICC if the rights are confirmed and, otherwise, refusing to download the subscription.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a soft handover method and device. The soft handover method includes: receiving a soft handover request sent by a home access node, where the soft handover request includes user plane information of the home access node and an identifier of an RNC; establishing a signaling connection mapping between the home access node and the RNC, and forwarding the soft handover request to the RNC; receiving a soft handover response returned by the RNC; establishing a user plane connection mapping between the home access node and the RNC, forwarding the soft handover response to an HNB based on forwarding user plane information, and forwarding user plane data. The technical solutions of the present invention implement a soft handover process between a macro cell and a home access node cell.
Abstract: A communication method using a direct link in a wireless network and an apparatus therefor are provided. Accordingly, it is determined whether the quality of a link channel is lower than a level during communication using the direct link or whether a signal which is received through the channel includes a radar signal, and the direct link channel is selectively changed to a new channel based on the determination result.
Abstract: A method of location information in a mobile device capable of improving position accuracy of the mobile device using a database (DB) of peripheral auxiliary data when GPS and navigation are performed in the mobile device, and an apparatus thereof is provided. The method of providing location information in a mobile device includes acquiring initial location information of the mobile device when a location based service is executed, transmitting the acquired initial location information to a server, receiving auxiliary data corresponding to the initial location information from the server, classifying satellites to be used to determine a location with reference to the auxiliary data, and determining the location based on a satellite signal of a satellite having a high weight through the classification of the satellites.
Abstract: A system and method for creating content such as artificial reality (AR) messages at an event, particularly among members on a social network, thereby enhancing and expanding the event experience. Typically, a participant shares an event with spectators, such as friends or a subset of friends in the participant's social network. The AR message may include geo-referenced artificial reality words, products or symbols and appear in a perspective view of the event to the participant or spectators. In addition to creating an active gallery for an event, messages, audio and video can be exchanged among participants and spectators, and virtual goods, money, bets, applause, other feedback, and donations exchanged.
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and devices are disclosed that may be used to estimate a location of a mobile device using, for example, one more receiver gains that may bring about adjustment of received signal strength indications of a radio heatmap. Such adjustment may allow a mobile device to accurately estimate a present location of a mobile device using, for example, a radio heatmap.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products are provided in order to facilitate improved emergency call handling procedures and, in particular, to provide improved emergency call handling procedures relative to a connection re-establishment procedure. Emergency calls may therefore be handled in an efficient and expeditious fashion, even in instances in which a connection re-establishment procedure is ongoing at the time of the initiation of the emergency call or in instances in which a connection re-establishment procedure is commenced during an emergency call.

Abstract: A paging system that allows a paging device to page a pager via a signaling channel of a communication network to which the pager is coupled. An alerting server that is part of the paging system receives a paging request from the paging device and converts the paging request to a paging message that is then transmitted over the signaling channel to the pager device. In response to the paging message, the pager device transmits a contact message indicating reception of the paging message and starts a timer for a defined time period during which the pager device is to transmit an acknowledgment message over the signaling channel to the alerting server which informs the paging device that the page has been properly received.
Abstract: A spectator sport system and method that displays different views of a sporting event and, in particular, uses a position selected by the spectator to assist in displaying a view from the selected position. The spectator, using an internet device, can zoom, pan, tilt and change the view, as well as change the view to another position, such as a finish line, goal, or a participant position (e.g. Driver of car #3 or Tiger Wood's position). The starting position can be specified, as well as the target position or orientation from the starting position. Vital information on the sporting event or a participant can be appended to the view. In some forms, augmented reality or any geographic referenced datasets can be used and combined, such as 3D imagery or 3D renderings, to enhance the experience.

Abstract: According to an embodiment of the present invention a moving picture reproduction method includes reproducing, via a display on the mobile terminal, a moving picture, extracting, via a controller on the mobile terminal, a still picture at an interrupted timing if the moving picture reproduction is interrupted, generating, via controller, a first thumbnail image by combining the extracted still picture with information about a reproduction rate, and displaying, via the display, the generated thumbnail image on a moving picture list.
Abstract: A method for authenticating a user's location in a femtocell-based network is disclosed. A user is associated to a femtocell connected to a connection point in the wireless network. An indication of the user's location is provided to a remote user. A characteristic of a connection between the femtocell and the connection point is monitored. The monitored characteristic is provided to the remote user to verify user's location.

Abstract: Automatic Location Information (ALI) data that is representative of a landline address is digitally retrieved, and automatically transferred to an emergency call taker over a wireless system emergency network. Importantly, the ALI information is determined based on association to a proximate location. Before an emergency call is initiated, additional environmental information, such as a RFID tag, location beacon, WiFi access point, Bluetooth device, or other communication signal with a known location, is included in the wireless session data exchange, used to match one or more location inputs to a fixed civic location (street address) which is used to dispatch emergency responders. Alternatively, the mechanism matches to a precise geodetic location (e.g., where no civic location is available).

Abstract: A transmitter that may have marginal power availability is enabled to autonomously retransmit previously transmitted frames containing the same data. The transmitter sends an initial frame to a base transceiver station (BTS) and immediately retransmits the same frame without regard to any ACK/NAK transmission from the BTS. The retransmissions are accumulated in the receiver and decoded after a sufficient quantity of the frame is transmitted. After receiving the last retransmitted frame the BTS sends an ACK/NAK to the transmitter that is accepted.

Abstract: A system and method for viewing artificial reality (AR) messages on a golf course, where the messages are geo-referenced artificial reality words or symbols to indicate distances, tips, targets or other information to the golfer. Typically, the AR messages are geo-referenced to a fixed location on the golf hole, such as a hazard or green. Using the spectator's chosen location as the viewing origin, an artificial reality message or object is inserted into the golfer's perspective view of the golf hole. Outings and contests can be held even if the matches are separated by hours or days, and outcomes and information published to select groups or individuals.
Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium and apparatus for providing security on a mobile endpoint device are disclosed. For example, the method scans for a radio frequency signal, determines a state of the mobile endpoint device and triggers an alarm on the mobile endpoint device if the radio frequency signal is not detected for a predefined period of time and the state of the mobile endpoint device is an inactive state.
