  • Patent number: 7165928
Abstract: Wrapped cotton bales transported from a cotton harvest area to a receiver at the gin are moved intact to a position generally above a receiver upstream of the ginning equipment. As the bales are supported and conveyed, knife or similar cutting structure severs a portion of the wrap allowing egress of the cotton from the wrap into the receiver. Wrap removal structure prevents the wrap from entering the ginning equipment. In one embodiment of the invention, the wrap is conveyed to a wrap processor after the cotton falls into the receiver. The bale handler can include transversely adjustable cantilever supports to tension wrap for efficient cutting.

  • Patent number: 7156390
Abstract: The invention relates to devices for aligning sheets (1), which are overlapped with an offset and supplied to the device by a stream feeder and which can be transferred to a device (63) that is located downstream, after alignment of the front edge and one lateral edge of the sheets. At least pant of a sheet can be brought to rest on the periphery of an alignment cylinder (62), which is used to align the front edge of the sheet by means of front lay marks located on the periphery of said cylinder. At least one recess is provided on the periphery of the alignment cylinder, which, by the application of a negative pressure to said recess allows at least part of the sheet to be fixed by friction on the periphery of the alignment cylinder, in such a way that in the contact zone, drive forces from said cylinder can be transferred by friction to the sheet. A measuring device (64) determines the offset of a lateral edge of the sheet in relation to a predetermined set alignment.

  • Patent number: 7153082
Abstract: Wheel lift tow device for a tow truck includes a centrally located extendable support beam having a cross bar pivotably attached to it, so that it can be oriented obliquely for towing obliquely placed disabled cars, especially for front wheel drive vehicles. The telescoping slider arms of the cross bar provide lateral movement for a pair of swivel arm scoops, or claws, which cradle and lift a pair of wheels of the disabled vehicle. The swivel arm scoops are rotatable about a pivot on each telescoping slider arm, but in their position of use are supported by a lateral stop bracket, which supports the lateral forces of the wheel while in the cradled position and distributes the weight therefrom. The swivel arm scoop claws are configured to isolate the front end parts from the moving parts of the wheel lift.

  • Patent number: 7150598
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for handling pallets, such as for inspection and sorting, are disclosed. In a disclosed embodiment, an up-ender includes a support frame, a pallet-tilting mechanism coupled in a pivotal manner to the frame, and first and second generally upright pusher arms coupled to the frame. The pallet-tilting mechanism is pivotable between an up position and a down position, such that when the pallet-tilting mechanism is in the up position, an upright stack of pallets can be loaded onto the pallet-tilting mechanism and when pivoted to the down position, the stack is rotated about 90° so that the pallets become generally vertically oriented. The pallet-tilting mechanism also is adapted to displace the stack of vertically oriented pallets along a support surface. The pusher arms are positioned to receive the stack of pallets from the pallet-tilting mechanism and automatically index the pallets in the stack along the support surface.

  • Patent number: 7140655
Abstract: A precision soft-touch gripping mechanism has a mounting plate attached to a robot arm. The plate supports a stepper motor. The output shaft of the stepper motor is connected through a spring to an elongated finger that slides in a central longitudinal slot of the plate and supports a first wafer gripping post, while on the end opposite to the first wafer gripping post the mounting plate pivotally supports two L-shaped fingers with a second and third wafer gripping posts on their respective ends. The mounting plate in combination with the first sliding finger and two pivotal fingers forms the end effector of the robot arm which is thin enough for insertion into a wafer-holding slot of a wafer cassette. The end effector is equipped with a mapping sensor for detecting the presence or absence of the preceding wafer, wafer position sensors for determining positions of the wafer with respect to the end effector, and force sensors for controlling the wafer gripping force.

  • Patent number: 7137769
Abstract: A plurality of working blocks (A, B) are connected by rails (18). A branched transporting mechanism (100) is disposed at the intersections of the rails (18). A transportation vehicle (300) of non-self-propelled type moves on the rails (18) by the driving power of a wire (20). A placement table (450) is positioned in the vicinity of the working blocks (A, B). The placement table (450) moves up and down with a workpiece placed thereon between the transportation vehicle (300) and the working blocks (A, B). Transfer of work is effected by moving the placement table (450) up and down, and adjusting the height of the placement table (450) to the height of the transportation vehicle (300) or to the height of the working blocks (A, B). Further, the transportation vehicle (300) has a wire gripping mechanism (350) for gripping the wire (20), and workpiece placement plates (326a, 326b) for placing the workpiece thereon.

  • Patent number: 7137770
Abstract: A transporting apparatus is provided with a moving platform capable of moving vertically, an article loading platform that can be moved horizontally with respect to the moving platform, a contactless sensor provided on the moving platform, a detected member that is provided on the article loading platform, whose position can be altered between an position detected and a position not detected by the contactless sensor, and an operating member operatively linked to the detected member. The operating member can come into contact with an article loaded on the article loading platform, and changes the position of the detected member between the detected position and the non-detected position. Due to this configuration, it is possible to provide an article position sensor between the article loading platform and the moving platform without using wires, which are deteriorated due to the relative movement between the article loading platform and the moving platform.

  • Patent number: 7134701
Abstract: A lift frame adapted to be pivotally mounted on a hoist include a tubular sleeve guide that guides a lift slide. The lift slide carries a lift frame for supporting a load such as a beam or truss to be lifted, and is spring loaded in an upward direction by a spring extending between a slider tube and the lift frame. The spring keeps the bracket seated on the load for a limited distance along the lift path. The lift slide has a stop that limits the amount of downward movement of the lift slide relative to the guide as the load is lifted. Specifically, a pair of frames are mounted at opposite ends of a spreader bar for lifting an elongated beam. A bracket on each lift slide engages one end of the beam and supports it under spring load for a selected amount of vertical travel, and thereafter the beam or load is directly lifted mechanically by having the stop on the lift slide engaging the sleeve guide.

  • Patent number: 7134826
Abstract: A loader includes a receiving section for receiving a FOUP (front opening unified pod), an opener for transporting substrates out of the FOUP, and a transport robot for transporting the FOUP between the receiving section and the opener. When the opener transports the substrates out of the FOUP, the FOUP is placed on a holding table. The holding table is formed with a notch permitting a transport arm of the transport robot to pass through vertically. Thus, the downward passage of the transport arm with the FOUP held thereon through the notch allows the direct transfer of the FOUP from the transport arm to the holding table. This reduces the time required for the FOUP transfer operation, to provide a high throughput, thereby providing a substrate transfer apparatus capable of achieving a high throughput.
