  • Patent number: 11274840
Abstract: An improved HVAC vent is disclosed. The vent may include an air turbine positioned within a passageway for selectively enabling and preventing airflow. In use, the air turbine is selectively operable between first and second states. In the first state, the air turbine may be freely rotatable, via the airflow, so that the received airflow can move through the passageway. In the second state, rotation of the air turbine is controlled or prevented so that the received airflow is inhibited or substantially inhibited from moving through the passageway. The vent may also include a motor. In use, the motor may act an energy generator and as an active brake so that in the first state, rotation of the air turbine is used to charge a power storage unit, and in the second state, the motor limits rotation of the air turbine.

  • Patent number: 11215380
Abstract: A combustion air blower includes a blower housing, an impeller fan within the blower housing, and an embossment to restrict airflow from the combustion air blower. The blower housing has a discharge conduit defining a discharge passageway. The discharge conduit is adapted and configured to receive a baffle such that, when the baffle is received, the baffle extends inwardly into the discharge passageway from a first wall towards a second wall opposite the first wall. The baffle restricts airflow within the discharge passageway. The embossment is in the discharge passageway and in the second wall and extends towards the first wall such that the embossment restricts airflow within the discharge passageway. The embossment cooperates with a baffle to provide a reduced cross sectional area of the discharge passageway in comparison to an upstream portion.

  • Patent number: 11197394
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are provided for blocking removal of an air-moving assembly from a housing when in operational state. The apparatus includes a protective louver assembly having a louver(s) and an interlock element(s). The louver(s) is disposed at an air inlet or an air outlet of the air-moving assembly, and pivots between an operational and a quiesced orientation, dependent on presence or absence, respectively, of airflow through the air-moving assembly. The interlock element(s) is associated with the louver(s) to pivot with the louver(s) between the operational orientation and the quiesced orientation. In the operational orientation, the interlock element(s) blocks, at least in part, access to at least one fastener securing the air-moving assembly within the housing, and thereby prevents removal of the air-moving assembly from the chassis when in the operational state.
