  • Patent number: 7413562
Abstract: A medical needle shield apparatus is provided that includes a needle hub having a needle cannula extending therefrom. At least one shield is extensible from a retracted position to an extended position to enclose a distal end of the needle. The shield includes a binding member disposed within the shield and defines binding surfaces that form an aperture configured for slidable receipt of the inner needle. The binding member includes at least one drag inducing member that engages the inner needle during slidable receipt to create a drag force. The drag force facilitates rotation of the binding member such that the binding surfaces engage the inner needle to prevent slidable movement. The shield and/or hub includes a retention element engageable between the shield and hub and a sheath retention element. The hub includes a magnifier for viewing fluid flashback.

  • Patent number: 7407494
Abstract: A device for delivery of medicament includes a main housing, a container having at least two compartments, each containing a component of the medicament to be injected, and arranged to be connected to a patient delivery element, a longitudinally movable piston and a spring arrangement acting on the piston to exert a force on the components, a first holding element for holding the piston in a force-loaded state, and at least one activator for releasing the piston, a second holding element for stopping the piston when it has moved a certain first distance after one activation of the at least one activator and holding the piston in that position, wherein the force from the piston/spring arrangement and the movement causes the compartments to communicate with each other and the components to mix.

  • Patent number: 7404809
Abstract: Liquid infusion apparatus includes non-magnetic materials in a pumping structure and drive motor therefor, and in a controller that supplies drive signals to the motor to facilitate convenient operation in intense magnetic fields without distorting the magnetic fields and without radiating objectionable radio-frequency interference. A non-MRI-compatible liquid infusion apparatus is temporarily replaced with MRI-compatible, non-magnetic liquid infusion apparatus without disconnecting patient from an installed intravenous infusion set to continue infusing liquid within the MRI environment.

  • Patent number: 7241273
Abstract: A renal flow system and method direct fluid into renal arteries from a location within the aorta. A renal flow assembly has a tapered tube that is adjustable between a radially collapsed condition for delivery to the location through a delivery sheath and a radially expanded condition that divides aortic flow into exterior and interior paths. The tube's wall is made from a sheet of flexible material, such as PTFE or ePTFE. Two, nickel-titanium rings radially support the tube's ends and are connected by a longitudinal spine support. A fluid delivery assembly injects drug to flow along the exterior flow path and the tubular wall directs the agent into the renal artery ostium. The tube's taper has localized shape for circumferential agent mixing to infuse both kidneys' renals. The flow assembly allows an interventional device, e.g. delivery catheter, to advance across the location while directing blood into the renals and perfusing downstream circulation.
