  • Patent number: 4918730
Abstract: An arrangement for automatically recognizing signal sequences such as spe and/or music signals, particularly useful for statistical evaluation of the frequency of play of music titles, commercial advertising spots, or verbal materials, etc. One envelope signal is generated from each preset signal sequence (e.g., music title) and time segments of the envelope signals are stored. An envelope signal is also generated from a signal sequence that is to be examined. Time segments of the envelope signal of the signal sequence to be examined are continually compared with the stored segments of the envelope signals of the preset signal sequences. When a preset degree of concordance is exceeded, a recognition signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 4780906
Abstract: Speaker-independent word recognition method and system for identifying individual spoken words based upon an acoustically distinct vocabulary of a limited number of words. The word recognition system may employ memory storage associated with a microprocessor or microcomputer in which reference templates of digital speech data representative of a limited number of words comprising the word vocabulary are stored. The word recognition system accepts an input analog speech signal from a microphone as derived from a single word-voice command spoken by any speaker. The analog speech signal is directed to an energy measuring circuit and a zero-crossing detector for determining a sequence of feature vectors based upon the zero-crossing rate and energy measurements of the sampled analog speech signal.

  • Patent number: 4387269
Abstract: An electronic apparatus includes a speech synthesizer, a speech synthesis controller, and a microprocessor connected to the speech synthesis controller. The microprocessor controls transmission of sound-related data from the microprocessor to the speech synthesis controller, receives control signals from the sound synthesis controller to said microprocessor and monitors the voltage supplied to the speech synthesis controller. For this purpose the microprocessor is responsive to an output signal indicative of a variation in the voltage for controlling the sound signal delivery operation of the speech synthesis controller.

  • Patent number: 4359608
Abstract: An adaptive data compression device for compressing data having variable frequency content, including a plurality of digital filters for analyzing the content of the data over a plurality of frequency regions, a memory, and a control logic circuit for generating a variable rate memory clock corresponding to the analyzed frequency content of the data in the frequency region and for clocking the data into the memory in response to the variable rate memory clock.
