  • Patent number: 8403901
Abstract: A catheter includes a urinary tube having proximal and distal ends intercoupling a passage for receiving the discharge of urine from the urethera with the urinary tube distal end for coupling to a collection bag. A resilient and deformable flared flange member is formed integral with the proximal end of the urinary tube, has a centered port contiguous with the urinary tube passage, has a peripheral edge that at least in part defines an annular proximal facing contact surface and an opposed annular distal facing contact surface. The peripheral edge covers an area that is greater than the cross-sectional area of the urinary tube. A plurality of miniature suction cups is disposed on the annular proximal facing contact surface. An adhesive component may be applied over the proximal facing contact surface.

  • Patent number: 8303566
Abstract: A system for transferring solutions from a first cartridge into a second cartridge comprises a cartridge holder, a plunger driver, and a cartridge connector. The cartridge connector carries a transfer needle and an exhaust needle. The cartridge holder positions the first cartridge against the cartridge connector so that the transfer needle penetrates the first cartridge septum. The second cartridge is removably inserted into another end of the cartridge connector so that both the transfer needle and the exhaust needle penetrate the second cartridge septum. The plunger driver is disposed to advance a plunger on the first cartridge to transfer solution from the first cartridge into the second cartridge thus displacing solution from the second cartridge through the exhaust needle. The cartridge connector includes a sealed interior waste chamber for receiving the solution from the second cartridge.

  • Patent number: 8282598
Abstract: Components may be used separately or in combination to create anchoring systems for intra-luminal implants for the treatment of metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes. Various systems include an external component adapted for deployment around a portion of the gastrointestinal tract (e.g., the duodenum) and an internal component adapted for implantation within the gastrointestinal tract. Various systems use anchors that are based on mechanical interference, elasticity, spring force, shape memory transformation, magnetic attraction, repulsion and/or levitation. Various embodiments rely on longitudinal anchoring of the implants with minimal force against tissue.
