  • Patent number: 6974160
Abstract: A restraining element for preventing separation of a pipe joint used to join a bell end of a female plastic pipe to the male end of a mating pipe. The restraining element is formed from a compressible body of elastomeric material, the compressible body having a segmented metal ring located therein with gripping teeth for engaging an outer surface of the mating male pipe. The ring segments making up the segmented metal ring are oriented such that the gripping teeth of the ring segments are out of contact with and initially angled away from the outer surface of the male plastic pipe. The teeth of the annular gasket are forced into engagement with the exterior surface of the male plastic pipe as the pipe joint is assembled. The teeth are oriented to allow movement of the male pipe in a first direction relative to the female bell end opening during assembly, but to resist movement in a opposite direction after the pipe joint has been assembled.

  • Patent number: 6851725
Abstract: A tube is insertable into a housing and secured by a collet connector. The tube has a first upset portion for actuating the collet and a second upset portion outwardly from the first upset portion. A retention clip has a first pair of arms which attach to a portion of the housing and a second pair of arms which attach to the tube outwardly of the second upset portion to further secure the tube within the housing. The end of each of the second pair of arms include a ramped surface. If the tube is not fully inserted within the housing before attaching clip, and thus the first upset portion has not fully actuated the collet, the ramps will cam along the second upset portion, thus pushing the tube into the housing and likewise the first upset portion through the collet.

  • Patent number: 4887854
Abstract: A gate latch structure is provided for use with either right-handed or left-handed gates. The latch includes a symmetrical main frame and keeper. The main frame has a striker receiving opening with two opposite cam surfaces flaring outwardly into a "Vee". A retainer stub is fixed to the main frame at a mid location at the inner end of the opening. A substantially flat keeper having a longitudinal axis has two opposite symmetrical striker receiving notches positioned at one end. The other end is pivotally connected at only one point to the main frame. The keeper may be sprung over the stub. While on one side of the retainer stub the keeper is for right handed gate and when it is on the other side it is for a left-handed gate. There are no springs and the weight of the keeper bar causes it to close over the striker.

  • Patent number: 4875721
Abstract: A latch assembly for a cabinet door of a microwave range is provided with a pivotal hook member of the cabinet door, which member is engaged with a dog projection of a hook housing mounted in a door-opening frame of a main body of the microwave range. On a peripheral portion of a cooking cabinet contained in the main body is fixedly mounted a door-opening frame on which is pivotally mounted a hook-operating lever in a lower-end portion of which is slidably mounted one end of a hook-operating rod the other end of which is brought into contact with the pivotal hook member of the cabinet door, the hook-operating rod being normally biased at its retracted position by a spring means. An upper-end portion of the hook-operating lever is brought into contact with a push pin portion of a push button which is mounted in a control panel of the microwave range in a retractable manner.

  • Patent number: 4635973
Abstract: A hose coupling wherein one terminal portion of the hose surrounds a first circumferentially extending external rib of a nipple. The rib is adjacent to the free end of the nipple and is separated from a second external rib by a cylindrical portion of the nipple. The terminal portion of the hose is surrounded by an annular clamping member which has a circumferentially complete annular portion surrounding the hose and being spaced apart from the nipple as well as several axially parallel elastic prongs which surround the first rib and the cylindrical portion of the nipple and have inwardly extending projections engaging that flank of the second rib which faces away from the first rib. Certain prongs are further provided with teeth which abut against the end face of the terminal portion of the hose.

  • Patent number: 4572551
Abstract: A connector assembly 10 including a first member 16, 20 including a first fluid passageway 14, 18 therethrough and a female end portion having a conical surface 22, 58. A connector member 12 includes a second passageway 28 therethrough in fluid communication with the first passageway 14, 18 and a male end portion having a conical surface 30 in mating engagement with the conical surface 22, 58 of the female end portion. The connector member 12 is either directly threaded into the first member 16 or secured to the first member 20 by a nut member 36 to axially urge the conical surfaces 22, 30, 58 into mating engagement. The assembly 10 is characterized by the second passageway 28 within the male end portion of the connector member 12 having an increased diameter defining an annular recessed wall 38 which is outwardly radially deflectable in response to internal pressure applied against the recessed wall to perfect a seal between the conical surfaces 22, 30, 58.

  • Patent number: 4505499
Abstract: A pipe coupling device is disclosed for sealably securing a cylindrical outlet end of a roof drain insert, slidable within a larger diameter roof drain pipe, coaxially within the drain pipe. The coupling device comprises a compressible, rubber tubular member which when uncompressed is slidable into the drain pipe and which on compression by axially directed compressive forces expands radially outwardly sufficiently to sealably engage with interior surfaces of the drain pipe. The rubber tube is adapted on compression to sealably engage the drain insert. Screws which are turned to apply axial compressive forces to the rubber tube lie radially inside of the drain insert and are assessible for activation through the inlet end of the drain insert. The new pipe coupling provide a means mechanically locate the drain insert securely within an existing roof drain.
