  • Patent number: 7377412
Abstract: A tensioner for deploying a member such as a pipe or cable, such as a sub-sea cable deployed from a ship, comprises an endless track and drive means for driving the track. The track includes a plurality of traction elements mounted thereon for movement with the track. Each traction element includes one or more cushions for supporting the member, and a pair of opposed arms mounted on respective sides of the base of the traction element. One or more of the arms is pivotally mounted for movement between a clamping position and a release position. In an alternative arrangement, four moveable arms are linked in diametrically opposite pairs to move between a release position and a clamping position. Cushions on the arms clamp the member in conjunction with the cushions of the traction element, when the arms are in the clamping position. Guide means are provided to urge the arms into the clamping position to grip the member as it passes through the tensioner.

  • Patent number: 7374075
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically feeding slider-zipper assemblies to a station where the slider-zipper assemblies can be attached to bag material, such as thermoplastic film. The apparatus includes a slider guide having a channel running the length thereof. The channel has a cross section that allows passage therethrough of sliders slidably mounted to a tape of connected slider-zipper assemblies. A tape drive mechanism is located at the outlet of the slider guide. The tape drive mechanism includes a pair of rollers that form a nip therebetween. The zipper flanges of the tape are threaded through the nip. The rollers have respective grooves that form a space for passage of the sliders as the tape is advanced by the rollers. The zipper tape with sliders exits the tape drive mechanism and is drawn into a zipper flange sealing position by a tape transfer assembly comprising a bank of drive rollers having silicone surfaces in contact with the zipper tape.

  • Patent number: 7374072
Abstract: An assembly for ensuring a correct lateral positioning of an elongated material conveyed along a feeder system and prior to a forming operation. The elongated material is fed from such as an unreeling coil and includes first and second lateral edges. First and second bodies are located along the feeder system and in communication with at least one of the lateral edges associated with the elongated material. Each of the bodies includes a fixed component secured to a rail extending laterally above the feeder system. A laterally displaceable component is biasingly secured to the fixed component and includes a roller in communication with a selected lateral edge of the elongated material. The bodies are laterally displaced, upon misalignment of the elongated material relative to the biasingly engaged roller. • Patent number: 7316366
Abstract: A highly mobile, compact creel that utilizes frames for holding yarn packages (or bobbins) for feeding yarn to a tufting machine. Each frame includes holders affixed to the frame for holding yarn packages facing front and back, a header attachable to the frame for directing yarn from the yarn packages to the tufting machine, and anti-static flexible tubing for leading yarn from the holders to the header. The header provides for aligning all the yarn ends in the same plane to join them to ends already threaded into the tufting machine. An optional frame overlay upright having a ring affixed thereto and strands threaded through the ring prevents yarn from upper yarn packages from falling onto tubes holding lower yarn packages causing yarn entanglement.

  • Patent number: 7293683
Abstract: The present invention relates to a packaging machine which has transport means in the form of two transport chains (5, 6) for lateral grasping and transporting of a length of material (7) consisting of packaging material. In particular with longer plants above approximately 10 meters in transport length the stretching property of the transport chains owing to the load has a marked effect on the precision of the transport distance. This results in fluctuations of the transport distance between the two transport chains and therefore distortions of the length of material, which, depending on the type of packaging material, can even lead to tearing of the length of material.

  • Patent number: 7237764
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a pin block for use with carpet gripping tools that comprise a plurality of downward extending pins that are canted towards the front of the pin block. Each pin is centered and supported in a pin support that forms an end surface thereby allowing only a pin tip to be exposed. Extending between each pair of pin supports is a fin that has a downward edge which is flush with the end surfaces of the pin supports to form a continuous contact surface that prevents the pin tips from penetrating through the carpet backing. Each pin block is adapted to stack together with other pin blocks to form ganged pin blocks to increase the gripping power of a carpet gripping tool comprising the present invention.
