  • Patent number: 8872052
Abstract: This novel jumper features an integrated mechanical switch that allows resetting the CMOS memory of computer motherboards just by actuating a reset button on the jumper, instead of moving a prior-art jumper back and forth over the CMOS-reset block. The disclosed jumper can also be adapted for use as temporary button for powering on, restarting and resetting motherboards when tested alone; in this case the jumper just needs to be inserted over the corresponding pair of pins on the front-panel header of the motherboard. This jumper is also applicable to other electric or electronic devices where operating the jumper's integrated switch is more convenient or safer than moving prior-art jumpers or manually shorting up pins on printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 8858241
Abstract: Disclosed herewith a socket connector configured with an insulative housing defining a mating interface surrounded with peripheral walls and a mounting surface. A plurality of passageways is defined between the mating interface and the mounting surface and having an opening at the mounting surface. The insulative housing includes an encampment associated with each of the passageway at the mounting surface, and includes an extension crossing over an inner wall of the passageway to substantially narrow the opening of the opening. The socket connector furthers includes a plurality of contact terminals each received in the passageway and further includes a curvilinear solder portion extending beyond the mounting surface. And the socket connector further is incorporated with a plurality of solder balls each disposed between the encampment and the curvilinear solder portion.

  • Patent number: 8777639
Abstract: A plug-in socket for coupling to a corresponding standard plug and for connection of an electrical terminal device to a primary voltage. The plug-in socket improves the use of mains units with voltage converters. The plug-in socket comprises a socket housing, a first electrical contact arranged in the socket housing for coupling to a corresponding standard plug electrical contact, a voltage converter integrated in the socket housing and converting a primary voltage into at least one secondary voltage for the electrical terminal device, a second electrical contact arranged on the socket housing for electrical contacting of the secondary voltage, wherein the voltage converter is integrated in the socket housing so that the external dimensions of the socket housing are substantially predetermined by the dimensions of the corresponding standard plug.

  • Patent number: 7404724
Abstract: ESD damage caused by connecting devices that have separate grounds, is reduced by equalizing the charge on the first and second device grounds before connecting their signal lines together; but when the grounds are equalized, the transfer of charge between them is sufficiently slowed down so as to avoid harming components within the device receiving the extra charge. In one embodiment, a connector for connection with a complementary connector is provided with an inhibited shell. The inhibited shell is mounted to the connector body for connection with a shell on a complementary connector. The inhibited shell is configured (e.g., with a conductive polymer having a desired resistance) to sufficiently slow down the detrimental transfer of charge between the separate grounds on the connected devices while at the same time allowing them to equalize with one another.

  • Patent number: 7165984
Abstract: An operating element having an end piece, which is arranged for connecting to a printed circuit board and a front plate. An operating lever is rotatably mounted on the end piece. The operating lever has at least one grip section and one on and/or off lever piece, which are at least partly made from a wear-resistant material. Such a design has the particular advantage that part of the operating element which performs an on and/or off lever action, the on and/or off lever piece, opposite the section of the operating element to manipulate, the handle, is at least partly made from a wear-resistant material. The complete unit is thus rendered significantly more robust without sacrificing ergonomics of the grip piece.
