Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining a connectivity status of radios in a coverage group. Each coverage group includes radios configured to transmit and receive range messages on a channel and a timeslot. Each radio in the coverage group is configured to generate a range message and to transmit the range message to each other radio in the coverage group. Each radio in the coverage group is also configured to receive, from each other radio in the coverage group, a range message generated by each other radio. Based on the range message received from each other radio, each radio is configured to determine bi-directional connectivity between the receiving radio and the radios that sent the D-ARTS messages. The determined bi-directional connectivity status is between each radio and each of at least two other radios in the coverage group.

  • Patent number: 9185472
Abstract: When a communication session is implemented, the communications of a direct mode terminal may be mediated via a direct mode gateway such that messages of a direct mode first terminal are addressed with identification information of the direct mode gateway. In the invention identity information of a user of the direct mode terminal is delivered to a trunked mode terminal in a user plane signalling message of the communication session. In terminal procedures identity of the direct mode gateway may be replaced by identity information received in the user plane signalling message. Identity of the direct mode terminal is then in a simple manner made available to terminal procedures of the trunked mode terminal.

  • Patent number: 9167534
Abstract: A method for reducing inter-cell interference (ICI) in a mobile communication system controls transmission signal power of an uplink signal from a terminal based on signal power measurement for a signal received from a base station of a neighboring cell. A terminal receives a signal from a base station of a neighboring cell via a wireless channel, measures a channel response against a threshold value across an applicable frequency band by using the received signal, determines a transmission signal power for each frequency band used for data transmission based on the measured channel response, and transmits data to a home cell base station according to the transmission signal power for each frequency band. The terminal may measure a channel response based on signals received from multiple base stations in multiple neighboring cells, and may also evaluate signal power of a signal transmitted from the home cell.

  • Patent number: 9113473
Abstract: Specific embodiments of the present invention are for use by a base station (BS) that enables power efficient wireless radio frequency (RF) communication between the BS and a medical device (MD), which may or may not be an implantable medical device (IMD). In an embodiment, once a communication session is established between the BS and the MD, the BS selectively turns a drop link mode on and off. The drop link mode is a communication mode that while turned on (i.e., enabled) reduces and preferably minimizes the length of time that an RF link is maintained between the BS and the MD. In accordance with an embodiment, at any given time during a communication session the drop link mode is either turned on (i.e., enabled) or turned off (i.e., disabled).

Abstract: In a wireless network, a cell's transmission power and reception sensitivity may be dynamically adjusted along with those of a client device detected in the cell. Thus, in other words, when a client device is in proximity of a particular reader device, the transmission power levels and reception sensitivities of the reader device and the client device may be adjusted in an effort to require the client device to be “drawn in” towards the reader device to conduct a data transaction between the reader device and the client device.
