  • Patent number: 8770632
Abstract: A quick-connect fitting for connecting a burner tube to a barbecue grill. The quick-connect includes a female connector and a male connector. In one embodiment, the female connector is attached to the burner tube and the male connector is connected upstream of the fuel supply. The female connector has an inwardly directed protrusion while the male connector has a corresponding longitudinal entry portion and circumferential groove. In the first step of assembly, the female connector is mated with the male connector by aligning the protrusion with the entry portion and urging the connectors together. In the second step of assembly, the female connector is rotated relative to the male connector such that the protrusion enters the groove to effectively prevent relative axial movement between the connectors.

  • Patent number: 8708373
Abstract: A wand for an appliance includes first and second tubes and a support mechanism, in which the second tube slides telescopically within the first tube along a common axis. The first and second tubes are arranged to be selectively secured to one another in an extended position or to allow movement therebetween and the support mechanism is located between overlapping portions of the tubes. The support mechanism includes tapered portions arranged to provide support between the tubes at separate points along the common axis of the tubes. By supporting adjacent tubes at a plurality of points along the common axis, the tubes are held more firmly with respect to one another. One tapered portion is able to move with respect to the tubes along the common axis, which reduces play between the tubes.

  • Patent number: 8657343
Abstract: A connector assembly including a connector body having a coupling end and sealing means. A collet couples to the connector body and has resilient fingers. An adjustment ring has a stop and defines guide tracks. A collar has protrusions coupled in the guide tracks. A ferrule is slidingly housed within the collar and adjustment ring. A locking split ring clips onto the adjustment ring to limit travel of the collar. In a locked position, the locking split ring is installed and a pipe, inserted into the connector body is retained in place by the resilient radially inward fingers of the collet and sealed by the sealing means. In the released position, the collar has been moved to force the ferrule into the collet to splay the resilient fingers such that the pipe is freely insertable and removeable from the connector assembly.
