  • Patent number: 9778466
Abstract: The present invention provides a head mounted display and flexible arm that is easily bendable yet capable of maintaining a bent state thereof. The flexible arm 8 is constituted with a coil 80 and a tube 90 provided on an outer periphery thereof. The coil 80 is formed as a double-strand coil containing a wire rod, stainless used steel for coil springs with high tensile strength, (SUS304WPB) 82 having a round cross-section and a Stainless Used Steel wire rod (SUS) (SUS304) 84 having a triangular cross-section. On the outer periphery of the coil 80, the tube 90 made of silicone is provided so as to be in close contact therewith. By making an outside diameter of the coil 80 slightly larger than the inside diameter of the tube 90 (approximately 10% of the tube diameter), the tube 90 fits tightly to the outer periphery of the coil 80. The tube 90 is fitted over the coil 80 in a state stretched from a natural state thereof in a direction A in the figure.

  • Patent number: 9778403
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a quantum rod film for a backlight unit. The quantum rod film includes a quantum rod layer having a plurality of quantum rods wherein major axes of the quantum rods are aligned along a direction; a micro-prism layer having a first refractive index and a plurality of parallel strip-shape prisms disposed at a light incident side of the quantum rod layer; and a birefringent layer on the micro-prism layer. By the refractive index difference between the first refractive index of the micro-prism layer and the extraordinary refractive index or the ordinary refractive index of the birefringent layer, the incident light parallel to the direction of major-axes of the quantum rods will selectively pass through the quantum rod film, and the incident light perpendicular to the direction of major-axes of the quantum rods will reflect to backlight for recycling and increasing the backlight efficiency.

  • Patent number: 9766464
Abstract: In a near-eye or heads-up display system including a display engine and an optical waveguide, a quarter-wave retarder (QWR) is positioned between a polarizing beam splitter (PBS) of the display engine and an input diffraction grating of the waveguide. Additionally, a linear polarizer can be positioned between the PBS and the QWR. Light corresponding to an image generated by a reflective microdisplay of the display engine is diffracted into the waveguide by the input diffraction grating, so it can travel by way of total internal reflection to an output coupler and viewed by a human eye. The QWR alone, or in combination with the linear polarizer, prevents a ghost image that may otherwise occur if a portion of the light corresponding to the image, that is diffracted into the waveguide by the input diffraction grating, is diffractively out-coupled by the input diffraction grating and thereafter reflects off the reflective microdisplay.

  • Patent number: 9759947
Abstract: The invention relates to the display technology field, and particularly to a wire grid polarizer, a manufacturing method thereof, a display panel and a display device. The wire grid polarizer comprises a substrate, in which wire grid structures are arranged at intervals in an array, to allow light to penetrate from the grid pitches thereof, with the other area except the wire grid structures of the substrate being a continuous opaque area. Due to the wire grid polarizer being provided with the wire grid structures arranged at intervals in a array, local light transmitting areas can be formed, and light emergence can be controlled more flexibly. A display panel using the wire grid polarizer can effectively lower the light absorption rate, also avoid peripheral light leakage in a non-subpixel area, and prevent the light leakage of the pixels themselves; correspondingly, a display device using the display panel can improve the light utilization rate, and achieve a good display effect.
