Abstract: A swivel castor comprises a pair of wheels (17) inclined inwardly to the upstanding swivel axis (11), such that the bottom of the wheels are spaced apart further than the tops. The swivel axis is offset forwardly of the wheel rotational axes. The arrangement gives improved support capacity and swivellability.
Abstract: Over-center hinge (10) whose jamb-related part is in the form of a supporting arm (16) coupled by two links (18 and 20) to the door-related part (14) in the manner of a four-joint hinge. In the linkage end of the supporting arm (16) there is provided a thruster (26) whose one end is mounted so as to be longitudinally displaceable under resilient bias and rotatable about the fixed pivot (28) of one of the hinge links (18), and whose other end, which is provided with a cam (42-44), is urged against a crosspiece (36) in the supporting arm (16). By way of studs (50) on the other hinge link (20), which are guided by a cam (48), the thruster (26) is swung during the hinge movement, while in the vicinity of the closed position a ramp surface (44) cooperates with the crosspiece (36) in such a manner that the thruster (26) is swung towards the second hinge link (20 ) and exerts a force thereon acting in the closing direction.

Abstract: A guide assembly for sliding doors oriented over a carpeted area and including a guide member and a shim or shims in which the guide member has spaced, upstanding and integral side walls and a center partition forming channels for guiding overlapping sliding doors and the shim is the same shape as the guide and constructed of various thicknesses for positioning under the guide so that a solid base is provided for the guide and for raising the guide to the level of the carpet.
Abstract: A door closer comprising at the end of one of two pivotally interconnected arms a closing device whose housing encloses a cylindrical piston driven by the arm through a rack-and-pinion system. On each side of this piston a return spring and a bag, filled with an incompressible but deformable viscous gum placed in a hollow piston biased elastically toward the cylindrical piston are placed on each side of the first-mentioned piston. The hollow piston has a diameter distinctly larger than the diameter of the first-mentioned piston, and the combined actions of this difference in diameters and of the viscosity of the gum ensure an effective braking of the return of the first-mentioned piston.
Abstract: A caster wherein a brake plate is supported for pivotal movement about an axis intermediate the opposite ends of the brake plate and adjacent the caster yoke and beneath the caster yoke. One end of the brake plate is connected to a toggle mechanism including a wire having one end anchored to the plate and pivots about the caster wheel axis. When the lever is pivoted over center, the wire pulls one end of the brake plate into engagement with the caster wheel thereby braking the caster wheel. The opposite end of the brake plate engages a bearing race fixed to the caster shaft and to thereby brake the caster against rotation.
